Professional exam with time to answer questions
Thorough exam and explanation. I had previously had carpal tunnel release surgery in 1998 and I am having issues again. After the EMG and testing I was referred to DR Sandquist for evaluation and treatment. He took the time do an in office exam and review all the test results and answered all of my questions. He explained what the recommended treatment was and exactly what to expect. Great bedside manner and a very professional office and staff. I would recommend Dr Sandquist. If I have a need for a neurosurgeon in the future he will be at the top of my very short list.

Back surgery is a crap shoot.
There are no guarantees going into surgery for degenerative back conditions and it's worse the older you get. What a patient needs to expect is an informed assessment and a recommendation based training, experience and compassion for the patient and his circumstances. Dr. Sandquist exceeded all my expectations. He informed me of the risks and benefits of each possible therapy, leaving me with the knowledge to make my own reasoned decision: steroid injections to the affected nerves. Highly recommended.

What a knowledgeable and caring doctor! Although he did not ultimately perform my surgery as I am a Salem resident and it turned out to be an emergency surgery which needed to be done ASAP, he spoke to me several times by phone and reassured me at a time when I was beyond distraught. He was very knowledgeable about my condition (a spinal cord tumor which had to be removed ASAP or I would be paralyzed), and I would be very comfortable to have him as my doctor and surgeon. I am very thankful to him!

My subdural hematoma required surgery. Dr. Sandquist explained everything clearly before and after surgery. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, and completely professional despite additional pressures due to the pandemic. The surgery was successful and I am completely recovered. Thank you Dr. Sandquist and Oregon Clinic.

In 2013 Dr. Sandquist performed Chiari Malformation type 1 decompression surgery on me. In the time since I have had few repercussions from that. Now I find myself in need for a neurosurgeon again for a nagging back issue and am once again scheduled to see Dr. Sandquist. I know that all my questions will be answered, that I will not feel rushed through my appointment and ultimately I trust him with my life.

Two years since my last post. Another operation. If I could give Oregon Clinic a star it would be a one. It is hard to get the info you need. As to Dr. Sandquist I give a big five star. First month though I would never walk again. Year later I can walk all I want no pain. First time in years. It takes time but worth it at the other end.

Dr. Sandquist was very easy to talk to, explained my prognosis , options, and imaging in clear and concise terms. He was very patient with all of my questions and concerns, and didn’t rush through my visit. I was a first time patient, and feel lucky to have found a Dr. that I felt comfortable and at ease with on the first try. My appointment was a Tele-Appt; the video and audio stream was very clear, and I felt like I received the same level of care as I would had I been in the actual office. I would recommend him to others based in what I have seen so far. I’m keeping him. :)

I think Dr. Sandquist is wonderful! He is exceptionally kind and gentle, as well as being personable and fun to talk to. He is very concerned about patient safety, and will do as little or as much surgery as he thinks is safest for me. I have seen him for 4 different conditions over 8 years: 2 resolved on their own soon after I saw him, on one other he recommended no surgery. I am currently planning to do a small, conservative surgery with him. I think he is an all round great doctor, and I always recommend him.

Dr. Sandquist is a GREAT guy. I haven't seen Dr. Sandguist since 2012. I just seen him in 2018.. I needed the skipper to look into my neck again. He hasn't changed. He is extremely kind and considerate and very compassionate. In my opinion he is the best neurosurgeon in the state of Oregon and if not in the United States of America. Thanks, James Goings.

After suffering several years from pain and numbness radiating from my fingers up to my shoulder, I met with Dr. Sandquist. After a nerve study and MRI, I was diagnosed with cervical stenosis, radiculopathy and myelopathy. He performed cervical laminoplasty and foraminotomies on C-4 through C-7. The surgery was a complete success. I was immediately free of the pain and numbness in my hands, arm and shoulders. I highly recommend Dr. Sandquist! At 6 wks. post surgery, I am healing very well!

I scheduled an appointment at the earliest date which was one month out. They canceled that appointment because the dr wasn't there. It took two more weeks to get in to see him. I had an appointment at 10am. I got called back to a room at 10:10. Dr Sandquist didn't see me until 12:10. I waited for two hours for him to tell me in five minutes that my insurance would most likely not cover his recommended treatment. He could have told me that at 10:10am or over the phone.
