Office experience and back surgery
I was hunched over and walking with a staff. My first visit with Dr. Wildstein was amazing. Discussion of MRI, he did an Xray and a lower back injection. Surgery was done a couple of weeks later. Pretty invasive surgery requiring vertebra spacers, a bracket and 3 screws. I'm 3 months out of surgery and feeling great. Back in the gym to strengthen the core. I am 100% satisfied with my whole experience and Dr. Wildstein's knowledge and skill.

walking and nerve compression
Of all the doctors available to help me with my walking and nerve compression problem, Dr. Wildstein was the only one mentioned by name. From my first visit to his office in April 2024, he gave me a complete analysis of the problem at my L4 and L5 vertebrae, the procedure he would use to relieve the pressure on the nerves and the outcome after the operation. He made three small incisions on my back (No Frankenstein Stitches, Ha! Ha!) to install the hardware to keep pressure off of my nerves and after returning to my room, there was a noticeable improvement to the movement of my legs and feet.He put me on a Physical Therapy program that helped increase my strength and get me away from walkers and canes.Dr. Wildstein monitored my recovery himself. He does not pass his patients off to other physicians to report on our recovery.Dr. Wildstein, along with his office staff are professional, concerned, courteous and friendly.Thank you for giving me my life back.James Gray

Great Doctor!
After being sent to 4 different specialties and physicians, a personal referral lead me to Dr. Wildstein. More than a year of very limited mobility and constant pain, Dr. Wildstein provided relief the very day of my initial appointment. Within 2 days of spinal injections I had my life back again! Very professional, attentive listener and kind.

Great Experience Thus Far
Dr. Wildstein was highly recommended to me by pain doctor (chiropractor). I have been very impressed with him thus far. He is very knowledgeable, conservative in his treatment, easy to understand and listens well. I have seen him 3 times in the last couple of months. I was having pretty bad sciatica in my lower back, buttocks and legs. I got an mri and he pinpointed the source of my pain (severely herniated disc at L4/L5) and explained the issue in terms I could easily understand. He recommended a cortisone injection to start, rather than fairly simple surgery. It’s been about 5 weeks since my injection and I have virtually no pain. The injection was easy, painless and kicks in fully in about 4 days. I highly recommend Dr. Wildstein.

Highly recommend
Dr. Wildstein has been my back pain doctor for several years. He initially recommended exercises for my lumbar stenosis which were quite helpful. This year I developed a cyst between two vertebrae that caused extreme pain and prevented me from standing or walking upright. An MRI revealed the cyst and the doctor gave me an injection which relieved the pain for several weeks. The options were: periodic injections or surgery. After doing my own info search, I decided on the surgery.Dr. Wildstein has been using'minimally invasive' surgical techniques for several years. He removed the cyst and addressed the stenosis in the nearby vertebrae. It is now ten weeks since the surgery. At this point there is a mild ache in certain situations but I can move normally, except no heavy lifting.I am grateful to Dr. Wildstein for this life-changing outcome. I want to also point out that he sees surgery as a last resort and does not push it.

Fixed my back and never felt better
Dr Wildstein and I have been working on non surgical solutions for two years and exhausted all that we could and I said lets do the surgery. I wish I had done it sooner. 3 weeks after surgery and I am doing great WITHOUT any numbness or shooting pains in my legs and back and I am standing straight up. Best Decision in my life. It has returned my energy level and would recommend Dr Wildstein to anyone who needs to get back into the game of life.

Excellent Surgeon
Dr. Wildstein operated on my hip after an accident which broke my femur. I have been very pleased with the results. When it became evident about two years later that I required cervical spine surgery due to spondylosis, etc., I did not hesitate to seek out treatment with Dr. Wildstein. I feel that my great successes are due to his excellent surgical skills. I also really appreciate the fact that he sees all of his patients himself. I always felt confident that I was receiving the best care possible.

Haven’t felt this good in 5 years!
I haven’t felt this good in more than five years! Yes, COVID turned all of us into couch potatoes, but I already had two arthritic knees on top of that. After having knees replaced, I had less than stellar recovery in my right leg/knee that just didn’t seem to be the knee, but something else. So I sought the services of Dr. Wildstein. To my surprise, during my initial consultation, it was clear that he had already reviewed my surgical history thoroughly. This is rare! Dr. Wildstein listened, and I felt I had his attention for as long as I needed! His evaluation was thorough and studies were done timely. I subsequently had a single epidural steroid injection and in 3 days, the numbness, tingling, and pain completely resolved! I can’t say enough about Dr. Wildstein-if you’re in pain, schedule at appointment ASAP

Knowing What to Do
Had 3 lumbar surgeries in my 20's. 32 years later, I was diagnosed with severe stenosis and grade 1 spondylolisthesis (bones misaligned). Both legs would go to sleep when walking. Dr. Wildstein recommended laminectomy with a lesser used instrumentation and fusion so it would be less invasive. The surgery went great with immediate relief. However, because of the severe pinching of my spinal cord, Dr. Wildstein had necessarily nicked the dural sac. He knew what to do - he put a stitch in it. All seemed well, but during the first week of recovery, it started leaking. This was greatly upsetting to both of us. We tried to let it heal, but ultimately we decided to repair the leak. When all was done, he explained how the leak was hard to discover - it had been leaking from suture holes. Because of his skill, he knew what to do to repair even that. Five wks later, I am far better than I ever imagined I would be. A lesser skilled surgeon surely would have made a mess. I highly recommend!!!

Exceptional Doctor
I have had back pain for years. After seeing several spine surgeons, I booked another opinion with Dr. Wildstein. He was amazing! One previous surgeon gave me 11 minutes of his time--Dr. Wildstein gave me an hour, and then proceeded to find the exact source of my pain. No one else did that. He explained things clearly and has a great bedside mannner. My spinal fusion was one month ago and I am pain free. I only took pain meds for 4 days! I highly recommend him!

Great Surgeon
In late December, I had emergency surgery for a partial hip replacement after a fall; He was the on-call surgeon at Roper Hospital. Although his specialty is spinal issues, this doctor is simply a great orthopedic surgeon. I'm just under three months after surgery and have recovered probably 90% of my mobility with very few issues. He's professional, very caring and gives confidence to his patients for a full recovery. I'd recommend him to anyone that wants to get well quickly.

I was recommended to Dr.Wildstein for relief of back pain. Instead of more steroid shots, he recommended implanting a spinal stimulator. I wish the recommendation had come sooner as I have been relieved of much of the pain. I am still getting “tuneups” so hopefully things will continue to improve. Dr. Wildstein is easy to speak to and has a very positive manor. I would definitely recommend him.

I have undergone several back/neck surgeries (not by Dr. Wildstein). I have been in such pain for the past two years and progressively moving from the back, to the hip and down my legs. I had a fall 10 years ago and I thought I had fracture in my back but all the surgeons and docs I have been to have refused to look at the spot where I have the worst pain. Dr. Wildstein did. He confirmed, I did infact have an old fracture. My present problems with lower back pain, hip pain and leg problems are still under investigation but I am relieved that we are looking indepth at every symptom, every cause, and not rushing into another surgery. I have had other surgeons, here in Charleston that have ignored my pain and complaints but Dr. Wildstein, I believe is in this for the long haul. I can't thank him enough for the support and efforts. His office staff is so professional and exercise a fading trait and skill - listening. I can't thank them enough. They are all outstanding.

Dr. Wildstein is very professional, a recommended expert for my type of problem, and I am so relieved after he performed my surgery - laminectomy of L4-5. My condition has existed 5+ years, and although physical therapy and injections gave some relief several different times, the slipped vertebrae continued to be very painful until it was relieved by the complicated surgery he performed. This included the necessity of removing bone spurs and scraping the inflamed areas. He has always exhibited concern about me and my discomfort and seemed to sincerely want to do whatever he could to give me relief. I am very pleased with the successful surgery he performed in November 2020. Feb. 24, 2021
