Very knowledgeable
Dr. Ayer is the best! He listens to my concerns, answers all my questions, explains options, is very intelligent and knowledgeable. I never feel rushed or dismissed. He has helped my husband and I with many issues over the years. I’m very grateful to have him as my doctor. I have both telehealth and in person appointments.

Expert, master of medicine, thorough, caring, attentive. Uses his great intellectual acuity to explain diagnoses, options, consequences and does so in a friendly and collegial way. I've worked in healthcare with physicians and a few have nearly killed me and give praise in this area with great care. I've concluded that I cannot imagine how he could improve. He also has a wonderful RN/MA equal to him in thoroughness, care, attentiveness, intelligence and collegiality. Six stars for both.

I had a nightmare of a time getting paperwork for a sweet, elderly lady with dementia who was no longer safe at home with her husband. As a professional in the long term care industry, I am very passionate about ensuring our seniors are being cared for properly. Nobody would even call back. Her husband was distraught. After a week of back and forth and attempting contact, I was able to find another physician who was willing to write orders for Dr. Ayer's patient. Incredibly unprofessional.

He was nice and understanding initially. When we were tapering my klonopin, and got halfway through the process I started getting sick and having withdrawal symptoms and panic attacks. This went on for almost 3 months. Instead of doing what he promised by working with me, he continued to lower the dose. I ended up getting irrationally upset and I had an anxiety attack. That led to him kicking me out of the practice with no medication or alternative medication. That's just wrong. He knows it.

When my doctor of many years retired a few months ago, I was worried about finding a new primary care physician. Not anymore. Dr. Ayer is caring, efficient, actively involved in the patient's best interest and an ultimate professional, who stays current in his field and who explains things in a way that makes sense. I highly recommend Dr. Ayer as a PCP or internal medicine specialist.
