Dr. Nazish Shafi, MD

My husband has been receiving care from the VA for 12 years now and this is the first time we EVER have had an issue with a doctor providing medications and medical equipment that he has ALWAYS received since being retired. Dr. Shafi is on a retaliatory/vengeful quest against my husband who has told his Endo, Psych, and the director that she is not fulfilling his medical needs as his primary care. He has been to the ER 4 times now because his own primary care doctor refuses to provide his medication/test strips/INSULIN/and other medical care. If this isn't medical malpractice then I don't know what is. I guess she's waiting for him to die to try and help him. Stay away from this doctor!!!

She’s at the VA now and her bedside manner is awful. each time I have spoken to her on the phone because that’s what we do now, telephone appointments she rushes me through MY scheduled appointment and whenever I ask questions that I forgot to mention to her nurse she gets GRUMPY like ok? she straight up told me one time why all these questions you should have told my nurse so I could schedule more time? Umm excuse me? isn’t that the whole point of the appointment? Time that has been set aside for you to attended to that patient?! Mind you each time we were o my about 8 minutes into the convo and yes yes sometimes Im going to forget to mention a damn problem I’m having to your nurse and remember as I am talking to you, the doctor.

My visit with Dr Shafi was outstanding. I have not been able to find a doctor that I am comfortable with. It makes me very upset that she is leaving. I have done everything I can to find out where she is moving to and have had no luck. The staff at the Cohen location is awful and the only reason I stayed was because of Dr Shafi. If anyone knows were she will be practicing please share it.

Dr. Shafi is a highly qualified and compassionate physician. It is so hard to find a doctor of her caliber! Thank you Dr. Shafi your dedication, attention to detail, and for seeing the individual in each of your patients. I wish I could give the same high accolades to the office staff; but unfortunately my experience with the front desk employees has been less than desirable. I do; however, believe that people can change, and I sincerely hope that the front office staff will rise to a higher level of professionalism through putting all patients and their needs first.

Dr. Shafi is the best, but her stuff are very unprofessional. I signed medical releases several times and nobody faxed them out. I heard she is moving from this location. I’ll follow her wherever she is going.

It gives me great pleasure to provide you, as a patient of Dr. Nazish Shafi, my observation and assessment. During the past two years, she contributed heavily to my continuing good health. My hairdresser, my blind lady friend of 63 years and my income tax expert are devastated that Dr. Shafi will no longer be of service to us. Whenever I would gather with any of the above ladies. our dialogue always began with: “Have you seen Dr. Shafi?” Each of us was served by Dr Rene Martinez who relocated to Dallas. We thought no one else would fill her shoes. Dr. Shafi provided me with the type of family medicine I was accustomed to in New York. She is truly interested in my progress. I don’t feel qualified to compare her with the three doctors mentioned above as I have not had the pleasure of knowing them. I can only compare her to my previous doctor, and each, in my purview, should be a recipient of five Gold Stars. I rest my contribution as a good recommendation for future employment.

Dr. Shafi has been God sent. She takes time to explain everything. I’m a bit up in age and haven’t been one to seek medical attention. She has made me feel comfortable with her decisions - no one can replace her. Deborah - October 10, 2019

She is a great doctor who listens ..

When Dr. Obregon left I was't sure any doctor could fill his boots but I was wrong. Dr. Shafi stepped up and did a excellent job as far as I'm concerned. I sensed she and her staff were at odds, but I also know she was the doctor and the staff needed to respect that. Now she is leaving and a search for a new MD starts for me. She will truly be missed. Dr Shafi is very good. Her staff, especially the MA, is not good at all. Looking for another Dr.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shafi's for two years. She is God send!! After Dr. Obregon left all of a sudden we were worried we would not find a good Dr. again. Dr. Shafi gives herself 100% to her patients. She's not about the numbers. She cares. She listens. She's amazing. She makes time to call me back with any issues and makes sure I'm well. There's not that many Doctors out there that will take the time to call you back. She loves her patients !!! And we love her! We finally have a good doctor in the Northeast area.. there is nothing negative to say about her. We hope we can retain this Doctor in this area. It would be devastating for us if she left. We pray that she stays in the area for a long time. And i have recommended her to other people.

Dr. Shafi has been my PCP for two years and she is an excellent doctor. When she first saw me ,I was borderline high blood pressure and over weight. She put me on a health plan and I was able to lower my blood pressure and lose weight with out medication. She is a caring doctor and she listens to and let’s you explain your medical situation. I highly recommend her and I have recommended her to my coworkers. I don’t know how long she is going to stay in the area, I hope it’s for a long time she is a blessing.

Dr. Shafi is detail oriented.....BUT her staff SUCKS!!! She needs to replace each of them including the office manager that she has. Although I like her if there are not changes done with her office staff and SOON I will be looking for another primary. Her staff is why she is only getting 1 star from me, wish I could give half a star!!!

I love her directness and she listens! I just switched my mother over to her care and know that she is in good hands! I have difficulty with some of the office staff in the past but she has been working on politeness and courtesy with them and I am seeing positive changes right now. Like I stated before, she listens!

My mom went to Dr. Shafi and was referred out to several different specialist. Then when she came back to Dr Shafi to discuss what to do next, she spent 45 minutes waiting for her scheduled appointment, only for the nurse to come out and tell my mom that she couldn't prescribe any medication and was unable to help her. She didn't even have the courtesy to meet her and talk to her about it. Very unprofessional!!!

Dr. Shafi is a wonderful doctor. She takes the time to get to know the patient and is really invested in their health and well-being. I would HIGHLY recommend her as a caring doctor that will make sure that you are getting the best help that you can. Her office staff on the other hand is a different story. They often do not follow through with prescriptions, specialist referrals or even answer the phone. I have been waiting to "confirm" my appointment (even though I had already confirmed my appointment through their patient portal) for over 20 minutes! They need an entirely new staff that cares about the patient as much as Dr. Shafi does!

Dr. Shafi has shown our family such kindness and respect. I appreciate the level of care we have received and continue to receive.
