Very knowledgeable and patient
I have a patient of Dr. Oparaeche for nearly a year (initial appointment was Mar 2024). He was very through in reviewing my RA history in the first appointment and listened to my concerns and challenges I have endured with my condition. I have regained remission of my RA with a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor after plateauing with a 20 year use of Paquinel (it just stop working over a 4 month period, after 20 years of remission).I am so grateful for finding Dr. Oparaeche and his wonderful, professional staff. As a Tricare Prime user, I pray Dr. Oparaeche is able to become a network provider for the new contractor Tricare will switch to on 1 Jan 2025; TRICARE West Region contractor changes from Health Net Federal Services, LLC (HNFS) to TriWest Healthcare Alliance (TriWest).

I first met Dr Oparaeche attending my daughters appointments when she was a minor. She was diagnosed with Arthritis at age 14. I then had some blood work come back "funny" as my providers nurse put it. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and have been seeing Dr O for many years now. He's a very compassionate person. Always has been! As long as he remains in Colorado I will be his patient.

He did not REALLY listen to my husband or admit that not every condition fits a textbook definition. He seemed fine to just let my husband suffer... something which he could have prevented by re-prescribing the biologic that he had originally prescribed and had been helping quite a bit!

The Dr has 2 Big Flaws: 1. He doesn't give a crap about the patient's situation or pain, Zero Empathy is a bad trait for any Doc. 2. His logic is flawed, he may know the "textbook" characteristics of a disease, but he does not understand that Arthritis is very complex and symptoms can vary within and between patients and any attempt at a "textbook" diagnosis is irresponsible. He withheld the only medicine that works for my condition, even though I have absolutely debilitating pain without it -- His logic - if it works, let's stop it. He is ultimately incompetent and is a waste of your time, money and hope. He does not listen to your input, rather he'll tell you some anecdotal story with a happy ending and that's his only insight. To boot, his staff is some of the most rude and presumptive people, they reflect his "who cares about you" mentality. Sorry to say, but they have all chosen the wrong profession and they should just fold up shop!

One of my first visits Dr. Oparaeche starts the exam, as I lay on the table. Once he gets to my feet, he makes a comment about how curvy I was. I brushed it off as maybe a physical feature that could be causing some of my symptoms and he was just noting it. After a few appts, I was diagnosed, with a disorder that is not well known and is a "sister" to fibromyalgia, after months of appointments and tests with a number of doctors. At the appointment where I was finally diagnosed, Dr. Oparaeche handed me a sticky note with a website on it "to do research". I asked if there were any treatments, and he stated there was not. I left that appointment and proceeded with informing my work (I work for the DoD). Work requested that I place an accommodations request, just in case any of my symptoms effected my work. When I called, I was told that they don't do ADA requests. I am left with few options currently. His patient care is abhorrent and there is zero information or follow up given.

Dr Oparaeche has been a wonderful doctor for my Rheumatoid arthritis. He is dedicated to his profession and keeps current about all aspects of the disease. He helped me immediately as I was suffering through many flair ups with the medication prescribed by my former doctor, which included prednisone and methotrexate. After I began my infusion series with methotrexate I improved greatly. The occurrence of flare ups decreased substantially and are very infrequent now. I am so grateful to him and his staff. Dr O is aOUTSTANDING doctor, and person. I travel 70 miles to see him from C/S no one compares to him in the matter in which he listens and educates you and knowledge He never discounted me as a man and said theses are women’s diseases like I’ve heard in the Springs. And in the Springs doctor’s primary work off of the disease has to show in the blood which only a 1/3 at best have Dr O can listen to you and process what symptoms you have and come to a reasonable conclusion AND HELP YOU not starting overly aggressive so treatment hurts you and causes more harm Laura works her butt off for patients and is kind and caring and passes information back to O accurately Leah is a gem of a person always has a great smile And Dr O is courteous and kind to my wife and talks to her not at her

I have been a patient of Dr. O's for about 8 years now, so I've interacted with him for a long time. Never one did I feel like he was not listening to me. As my discomfort increased over the years, he has had to adjust my medication to counter the changes. I go in for an infusion very 4 weeks, and Laura, Dr. O's nurse is amazing. I have read other reviews on this site and have a feeling that any of the negative comments simply didn't get the diagnoses they were expecting or wanted. I found Dr. O to listen to the symptoms I had, looked at the test results, and adjust from there. I recently moved and will still drive out of my way to keep seeing Dr. O and Laura.

He has been my rheumatologist for over a year. He is patient, checks symptoms thoroughly, listens and explains the next steps. He does appropriate lab work without being excessive in the frequency and number of lab draws. He takes the time to answer all my questions politely. My prior physicians first misdiagnosed the condition and the other started me on a medication that is not appropriate for my condition. I haven't had any negative experiences in this office.

He did not really listen to what I had to say and seemed to jump to a conclusion as to what was wrong with me without listening to me. He was condescending and made me feel like I was wasting his time. I would not recommend him.

Dr Opaereche is an amazing doctor! He's helped me figure out what is going on with me so I can have less sick days and more days living life. He also gives the best most painless cortisone injections I have EVER had(been getting them done for over 30yrs) in my joints. Fabulous doctor and easy on the eyes too!

I left the office in tears out of frustration. My frustration turned to irritation when he went back and forth between RA and Fibromyalgia. This doctor said my joints weren't swollen when they were.. After reading the posted reviews, it sounds like this doctor dismisses pain and doesn't take his patients' concerns seriously. I know he didn't take me seriously. Fibromyalgia is an easier diagnosis for him then he can dismiss the patient because he doesn't know what to do.

I could not believe the experience I had. Despite presenting with swollen, boggy joints, Dr. Oparaeche was dead set on a fibromyalgia diagnosis, and when my tender points were not tender, he pressed so hard that I had thumbprint bruises. His advice to treat my condition was to "look up fibromyalgia treatments and tell my PCP what medications I want."

Dr. Opeache and his staff had a difficult time taking my complaints seriously. I felt my complaints were disparaged. He had residents from Rocky Vista Osteopathic College who had similar reactions to my pain. My new rheumatologist took my complaints seriously and is helping me get better. The rheumatologist also looked deeper into my complaints of pain, ordering xrays. Thanks to those xrays, I am now on the road to hip replacement with one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the area.

Dr. O is a nice, capable physician. However his office staff is rude, incompetent and prone to making up whatever absurd stories they want to cover their inability to do simple things like call in a prescription. I've never seen such a consistently bad office staff. Avoid this group at all costs.

The doctor is worthless. He recommended a surgery that did nothing. Wasted pain and expense. His two person staff seems nice at first, but quickly become rude, conniving, liars over petty things. I would give zero stars or negative stars if allowed on this survey. Don't waste your time, money, or health with this group!
