I was referred to this practice because the Pain Management practice I have been treated by for last 9 months is moving to MD and my insurance is DC Medicaid. This is my second bad experience with GWU MFA. GW Spine & Pain Center were very specific as to what they needed pre-consultation. I provided referral, last 3 appointment notes, treatment plan including prescribed medication for plan, MRI imaging and reports. They had all of this information a week before appointment. I specifically asked if I would continue with my plan and was told it would be determined at consultation. I was okay with that. What I'm not okay with is learning that the doctor had no intention at all of continuing with my plan and she specifically and definitely said that the medication and pain management I am on is something she does not do for ANY of her patients. That is fine but knowing and having records of my plan it should have been stated to me before having me take time and resources and taking an a

Pls don't make the mistake of trusting this dr. I was a patient @ Sibley Pain Center for 6 yrs with same dr working on diagnostic techniques to find/relieve my pain. When he left, I had no support of what I should do next. In summer of '15, I was suddenly assigned to Dr. Turakhia who began making my life "a living hell" on Day 1. This dr has no compassion, no drive to understand the complex issues and fails the oath of "do no harm." Run, don't walk away. So much to lose with her at the helm.

This person recommends hydrotherapy to a person who can't swim and seratonin to someone who has had who has had bad experiences with seratonin. Be smart. Read theses reviews. Save yourself time and money. It's too easy to get an appointment with her. If she were "popular", she'd have a longer wait time for appointments.

The worst doctor on the planet. No knowledge of her specialty, pain management, more importantly, no compassion. Treated my chronic back pain as if I was a drug thief even though I had been coming to Sibley Pain Center for 7 years without incident. She never bothered to do a physical exam or try to schedule a "pain procedure" until our last visit (3 months in). Even though the doctor was scheduled for a four-month vacation she never mentioned it our last visit.
