Forgets to write prescriptions
First the good: Dr. Berenbaum is patient, knowledgeable, and empathetic. He understands his field well, and I have never found him to be dismissive. However, he is extraordinarily forgetful, to the point that it causes problems. I often have to call his office several times in order to get a prescription refill, and even then I sometimes run out of pills before he sends one in. On one occasion he prescribed a medication which resulted in severe side effects, so we discontinued it. At our next appointment, he tried to prescribe it again, apparently not remembering (nor seeing in his notes) that we had already tried it. This forgetfulness makes it difficult to work with him on long-term issues. On top of that, his office staff almost never answers the phone. Or maybe they just have strange hours – I can't figure out what their hours are supposed to be.

Horrible communication, bad beside manner, seems confused and unsure when discussing results. Try calling after hours with an issue, No answering service, no way to leave a message. Staff is polite, but backwards and outdated would be the nicest way to describe my experience with this office.

Dr Berenbaum is the most thorough Dr I have been to. He spent an enormous time with me discussing my issues. He was clear about my treatment and answered all my questions. He is very good about treating patients with difficult medical issues. I didn’t feel like he had one foot out the door like many Drs do. You will wait for him, so bring a good book. But the wait is worth it.

The rudest staff I have ever experienced, wait times are an eternity and a half. Paul Barenbaum is one of the most inexperienced doctors I have ever talked to, he is quick to make a judgement without spending any time with the patient. I would recommend going here if you want to leave in worse condition than when you came in. Did I mention the entire staff including the doctor is extremely rude and inconsiderate?

He diagnosed me with conditions before he had even run tests. Then had me do dozens of tests that I am still attempting to pay off which I still haven't gotten some of the results for. He didn't explain anything to me, just prescribed a lot of medications and would not answer my questions. I switched doctors but am still dealing with some of the issues I had from going to him.

Dr, Berenbaum is one of those rare physicians who puts patient care over financial compensation. It's not unusual for him to spend 45 minutes with you asking questions and answering them. Wait times are ridiculously long, but it's worth it to receive this quality of care
