Bad and likely unnecessary surgery on 7 month old
I came to Dr. Kokorowski even after my primary care doctor had told me that my son's condition would likely self resolve. I made the mistake of getting my son circumcised and it led to it being buried so I took him to this doctor. I got it into my head that a specialist would know best. Dr. Kokorowski said my son's condition would never self resolve and he would need surgery. I was a little surprised because sometimes it looked fine and sometimes it was buried because he was chubby. He gave me confidence by saying he had written the book on how to perform the procedure. Fast forward 4 years and the surgery outcome is disfiguring. It has given me anguish for years because how it looked before was better. At least from what I have read, it's better to see after they start walking to see if it resolves. I do not recommend this doctor for infants because the visual outcome is very poor and he's likely pushing for surgery when it's better to wait and see.

I think this doctor will leave you feeling more directionless and lost. He does not demonstrate leadership, knowledge, or listens and doesn’t seem particularly concerned about creating a plan to care for your child. His way of handling an appointment shows he’s not very passionate or caring. He will simply tell you everything you’ve read is wrong but won’t tell you anything to actually guide you! After 21 years of practicing, you would think he could do more than simply say this is wrong and that’s wrong. Well, tell me what YOU know and what works. Put your patients at ease and do more than simply be a science buff who thinks all the medical research is trash. People come to you for guidance. I get the sense that this doctor is jaded, bored with his job, and generally has no skills in helping parents feel at ease or find solutions for their children. It’s a red flag when a doctor is cocky enough to tell you all the medical research out there is wrong and I’m right but I have nothing to say about what I do know. It’s negative and directionless and makes folks feel even more lost. It’s your job as a specialist to let folks know what you’ve seen and how YOU can help them get better. These are the same doctors who hate when you show up with questions because their ego gets in the way of them saying “hey, I will make sure I do everything I can to care for your kid, and together we can solve it.” People don’t come to you to debate the validity of medical testing and medical research. They ultimately want guidance and care. They need you to help them sort through difficult decisions.

My 11 year old was having some issues and we went to another Urologist, who markets herself as a Pediatric Urologist, which she is not. Dr. Kokorowski spent the time asking us questions the other doctor did not. He was concerned that we felt comfortable and connected with him as he wants to see that patient/doctor dynamics. Even offered us to see a colleague if we were not. You don't find too many doctors that are like that. I appreciate the time he spent with us and the thoroughness he had.

Dr. Kokorowski handled my son's hernia surgery wonderfully. He has perfect bedside manner with children, making them completely at ease (parents, as well). The surgery was a success and our experience at CHLA was outstanding. The doctors, nurses, and general staff were so welcoming and pleasant. It was unlike any hospital experience we've have been a part of. Thank you!

Dr Kokorowski came highly recommended by a urologist friend who said he is one of the most skilled surgeons. Another urologist said we'd have to wait and do a minor circumcision correction (lysis of adhesions/bridges) under general anesthesia, but Dr Kokorowski understand my concerns & did it quickly under local. My baby was very happy after the procedure! I could also tell that the doctor is a genuinely nice guy by the way he spoke & held my baby. Thank you Dr Kokorowski!

Dr. Kokorowski is THE BEST! My son had hypospadias surgery at 16 months old. We spent those first 16 months of my boy's life researching, worrying and spinning our wheels with another surgeon who wouldn't give us a straight answer as to whether we should go ahead with the surgery or not as his case was considered "mild." We got a second opinion with Dr. Koko and immediately felt as ease, confident, and even EXCITED about the surgery. Amazing outcome. Couldn't be happier or more thankful.
