He is easy to talk with. He is very kind. I’ve been a patient for ten years and he goes above and beyond to provide excellent care. Without his skill and expertise I would’ve been disabled.

Best of the very best!!
Dr. Mitchell has been my neurosurgeon for more than 10 yrs. Not only is he an excellent surgeon, his bedside manner is wonderful. Recently, my partner had Dr. Mitchell redo a botched back surgery that was performed by an orthopedic surgeon. Since her surgery by Dr. Mitchell, her pain level went from 10 down to a 5 immediately after her surgery. If you're seeking help from the most competent and conscientious surgeon then Dr. Mitchell is the one that you're looking for!!

BEST SURGEON IN HAMPTON ROADS, PERIOD!!!!!
DR. MITCHEL has operated on me numerous times. I am thankful to have him. He is a fine gentleman that looks at surgery as a last resort. Trust me, you need the best and he's it! He runs behind on appointments because he will answer every question you have. He explains the procedure and all the alternatives that are available. Expect to see him when your in the hospital because he gives that final touch to assure his patients are receiving the very best care. He has helped me so much and I am so grateful. You won't find a better physician in Hampton Road, period!

Back in 2014. No other surgeon after the first surgery would touch my back again. Spinal fusion did not take Mr. Mitchell talk to me and said he can get me back 65%. I almost died from those surgeries I think he performed three on me I caught something called Streptococcus pagination lead the hospital almost 3 months, but I will tell you one thing that man nurse me back to Health and got me back on the job site performing labor If you wanna ask me, I just had a car accident. I'm right back at square one, but I think he's the best in the country and I'm not just saying that he touched my back and made me whole again not a doctor in Tidewater with her would touch my back.

highest recommendation
Surgery after being hit by a vehicle while riding my bike. Successful surgery one spine, able to walk after a horrible injury. Grateful for his expertise! He takes his time to answer all questions in great detail, explain procedures etc. Most appointments were reasonably efficient without undue wait times.

Dr. Mitchell is a great Doctor, he takes his time with you at each visit and ensures that you are well taken care of. He also makes sure that all your questions are answered, and he is sure to listen to what you have to say about your injury or your illness. NOTE. your appointment will never be on time, and you will wait an hour or more past your scheduled time. HOWEVER, the time that you wait it is well worth it because he is a not a 10 - minutes doctor who is hurrying you up to go to the next patient. BEST DOCTOR AROUND, I'll wait 3 hours to see him. His staff are amazing as well (TIFFANY) and the front desk.

I have worked closely with Dr. Paul Mitchell. as far back when he was a Third Year senior Resident At NNMC (Bethesda) Before it became (Wally World), Those Dr's at that time were the cream of the Crop, Dr Mitchell continued onto Portsmouth Naval then he left the Military to enter into Private Practice, He is one of the Best Neuro Surgery Doctors on the East Coast, He is Confident, assured, experienced and has a realm of colleagues from past and present he can consult with, He is an Expert!

Dr. Mitchell fused L1-L5 after I fractured two vertebrae by falling out of a tree in 2003. I'm submitting this review 14 years later to report that the surgery was literally a miracle in terms of how it fixed my spine, ended long-term chronic back pain and improved my general health. At age 71 I'm still more active, have better weight control, and just generally feel better. I found Dr. Michell to be an engaged, thoughtful and incredibly skillful surgeon. I give him my highest recommendation.

I was referred to Dr Mitchell for evaluation of my scoliosis. However someone put the reason for appointment as back pain. Only 1 of mri's were reviewed before my appointment. I feel Dr Mitchell was not prepared for my issue. I will not return.
