The Shea Ear Clinic is one of the most respected clinics in the entire Southeast. Folks come from out of state to see Dr. Shea. They are able to see him one day and then have surgery the very next morning. Just know that the clinic is geared more towards that and less towards locals. You will have to request the entire day off of work because you will be there for hours! No kidding. However, you will be meeting with one of the most knowledgeable doctors in the field. I originally went to them for a 2nd opinion, and Dr. Shea saved my hearing. The previous doc wanted to "gut everything out" which Dr. Shea explained would remove all my hearing bones and render me deaf in that ear. He instead wanted to do a different procedure which removed only part of the bones and actually replaced some with prosthetic bones. That was 15 years ago and I have been seeing him regularly ever since. If you are local like me, ask for the last appointment of the day. Whether you get there at 9am or 1pm, you will likely be leaving no earlier than 4-5pm. So do yourself a favor and do NOT schedule an early morning appointment.

The Shea clinic is iconic in Memphis because they are multi-generational. Be warned that the customer service is some of the worst you will experience. We waited over 90 minutes to see the doctor and had to leave. When we called to reschedule the staff unapologetically said be prepared to wait 3 hours before you can see the doctor next time. Truly out of touch with the customer/patient.

If it were possible to give 0 stars I would. I can not comment on care but I can say wonderful staff. Dr. Shea refused to treat me or even speak with me after my husband and I commented on his poor choice of words and downright offensive statements. Absolutely no manners. We had an appointment scheduled for 12:30 arrived at 12:00 and were told by him to leave at 4:05. He was texting during appointment.

Excellence in his field. I recently received perfusion treatment and my hearing has improved tremendously. His compassion and patient care is an exception in this ever changing field of health care. He is indeed in a league of his own. Thank you for giving me quality back to my life.

I cannot post the actual waiting time. In our three times here it has been about 2 hours in waiting room and then time in the exam room. I am posting this on behalf of my mother.
