In good hands
My 17 year old son recently fell and broke his wrist. Dr. Sponseller was personable, and we felt like we were in good hands the entire time. They were able to do a waterproof cast-making the start of summer a bit easier. Thank you for the great care.

He was willing to see our 29 yr old special needs done even though his specialty is pediatric orthopedics. Then immediately upon coming in the room get he went to our son and checked his physical condition. So many times in our experience Drs. are not willing to see our son even though he is very small like a child....and often the Dr. won't even look at or touch our son.

We went to Dr. Sponseller after my child’s initial provider failed to intiate treatment, leading to a worsening of the scoliosis. Dr. Sponseller succeeded in stabilizing the curve and preventing what was a rapid road to surgery.

His staff gave me and my husband two different addresses and times for surgery. When you call his office no one answers, the message says they will return your call in 48 hours. They don’t, I called several times. For days and I only got one call back. We arrived on time and had to wait 5 hours for his surgery cause someone else showed up late. My sons surgery only took 15 minutes. They have made sure this is a memory for my son. Don’t go to this clown.

My daughter was scheduled to be a new patient of Dr. Sponseller. We made the appointment for 9/24/2018 at 12:45pm via phone, but when we arrived at the hospital, we were turned around because they said our appointment was on 9/27. However, we were asked if we wanted to wait until after 4pm because he was running 2 hours behind. Obviously, we were upset because I called out of work, and we drove 45 minutes to Johns Hopkins for this appointment. We decided to call and complain about it from the nu

I would NOT recommend Dr. Sponseller. We hold him responsible for our daughter's condition becoming much more severe. His approach was "let's observe" and he suggested this during her growth which is when scoliosis and kyphosis worsens.. Her condition did get much worse and when we returned I was surprised at his limited view on treatment and appalled by his poor communication lack and total lack of empathy for a teen struggling with a his diagnosis and limited options. Terrible.
