Doctor by the Grace of God
Dr. Carvounis is everything you want in a doctor - professionalism of a highest degree, compassion, down-to-earth precise explanation of a patient's condition, and nothing of haughtiness and arrogance of some ophthalmologists, the 'creme de la creme' of the medical profession. My daughter, who lives in England, told me to look for British-trained doctors after I had a not very pleasant experience with my first retina surgery, and I looked, and I found a gem. I don't want him to be overburdened by patients, but I would recommend him, with all my heart, especially in complicated cases. You won't be disappointed.

After waiting over 3 hours, he was rude and arrogant. The way he spoke to the staff was hard to watch - creepy and inappropriate.

Dr. Carvounis is a rare find of a doctor: not only does he have stellar surgical skills that saved me from losing my vision, but he also genuinely cares about his patients. In an age when doctors are usually always in a rush and so busy, he always made the time to answer my many questions and thoroughly explain everything. His immense knowledge and expertise are very impressive, yet he remains humble and kind. His employees are all very nice and professional too, and his office is very clean and made me feel safe, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I can't recommend him enough!

A MOST CARING AND BRILLIANT INDIVIDUAL. TAKES THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THE CIRCUMSTANCES, PROGRESS, OPTIONS, ETC. I HAVE ALREADY REFERRED HIM AS IM CONVINCED HE SAVED MY EYESIGHT. AT BAYLOR, THE WAIT COULD BE HOURS. NOW THAT HE IS IN PRIVATE PRACTICE, I UNDERSTAND THE WAIT IS BETTER.

Dr. Carvounis is an extraordinary doctor. He is very intelligent, extremely knowledgeable and always spends plenty of time with me. I consider him a friend. Several years ago I went to a different retina specialist, but that doctor left Baylor for private practice. Even though I've moved to Austin, I make it a point to remain a patient of Dr. Carvounis. I highly recommend him.
