Awesome Dr
Dr Kurakula is a down to earth person that takes the time to explain to you what is happening and what treatment she is giving. She gets labs done when you are having issues right away. I like her a lot and feel comfortable that she is my Dr. I had another doctor that was very strict and you had to follow his guidelines to the t. Even when I called and was in severe pain. He did not budge off his treatment timeline. No compassion. That’s one of the things that I admire about Dr Kurakula. She is so kind and caring.

Discouraging
I finally got a referral after years of symptoms. I had high hopes that finally whatever is causing all the issues of would be identified and treated. I was not looking for any SPECIFIC diagnosis. What I ended up with after seeing Dr. Kurakula is nothing-no answers to what is wrong with me and why certain test results are going in the wrong direction. Instead I was told to lose weight as though this is the whole issue, even though symptoms started long before weight gain. I was told I don't need to see her now or in the future, this, has left me feeling discouraged and hopeless that I will ever get answers and proper treatment. Ended up being a frustrating waste of time. Back to square one.

Dr. Kurakula cares about her patients.
I have been seeing Dr. Kurakula for an several autoimmune diseases for several years now. The first time I saw Dr. Kurakula I was severely sick with a auto immune disease myositis. This disease attacked my muscular skeleton. I also had dermatomyositis which affected my skin. She took so good care of me that I was able to be able to eat again solid foods get in an ounce of bread dress myself and be able to shower and comb my hair. Then my auto immune disease Sjogren’s was drying my eyes and mouth out found out it was attacking my lungs drying my lungs sacks out. She sent me to a pulmonary doctor that put me on oxygen 24 seven. It was discovered by the pulmonary doctor I had ILD. She works with my pulmonary doctors to try and keep my disease from getting any worse. There is no cure for my lung disease. Dr Kurakula treats me for my pain in my joints because of my Sjogren’s. I am so thankful I have a doctor that listens to me and has helped me as much as she has.

I tried to have an appointment with dr kurakula I have had linear scleroderma all my life which has suddenly began to spread all over my body. Severe pain and fatigue. Was told blood work wasn’t showing anything so no need for an appointment. Lol. If she knew the condition the blood work typically does not show up like normal issues. On the hunt to find someone that knows of the condition. So far I have lost most movement of my right side, but I guess I do not need seen. Don’t waste any time on this dr guys.

I waited 6 months to be treated like my issues and pain weren't real. I have Sjogren's Syndrome and just because my inflammation markers weren't high last year, she said my pain was a "non-issue". She did order more labs and then said they were normal. They were not normal. She didn't listen to my issues and treated me like I was only a paycheck. In response to my note, she then flipped it by saying my labs would be discussed at my next appt. IN SIX months. Do not recommend. Save your sanity.

I do not recommend this doctor at all especially if you're a young patient. I had chronic muscle and joint pain, weight loss, and low grade fevers. Instead of doing the proper lab work, she said I was too young to have a health problem . Months later I went to a new rheumatologist who did the correct lab work and diagnosed me with lupus. Now I am much better with the proper medications. I'm glad I didn't listen to this "doctor". Who knows what kind of trouble I would be in down the road.

TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME! DEMORALIZING AND FRUSTRATING !!! I waited 3 months for this appointment!!! Dr. spent MAYBE a total of 10 min with me, completely uninterested in my symptoms, or history. Minimal exam, didn't even check the joints that are in constant pain and flare up. Told me my positive Rh factor was not significant and stepped out of the room for a couple minutes, came back with pamphlets on managing chronic pain, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. THAT WAS IT. Looking for new DR. :(

I have trouble with joint and muscle pain, fatigue, digestive issues, and on and off fevers so I initially went to my family doctor. They did an ana test and it came back positive so I was refered to rheumatology especially since lupus and arthritis runs in my family. The doctor said I was way too young to have rheumatic problems (I'm 27) and said to take tylenol. She completely ignored my blood test and entirety of symptoms. The visit was a complete waste of time and money.
