Dr. Cohn quickly fixed the issue
UPDATE: Dr. Cohn wa so attentive and alerted the billing department right away, and I received phone calls from the manager and her assistant. She resolved the issue over the phone by refunding my credit card and sent me a confirmation email as well. Coincidentally, I had an appointment with Dr. Cohn on the same day, and he brought up the issue and explained to me personally that he alerted the billing dept., furthermore apologized for the incident. Thank you, Dr. Cohn!

So Far, So Good
Had cataracts removed in both eyes and all went well. That was late 2021, and my follow-up visits went well. My general check-ups have been excellent as well, and I found Dr. Cohn to be personable. In fact, Dr. Cohn was the top recommended ophthalmologist by not only patients but also his peers when I started seeing him. It concerns me that he joined Magruder, which was in turn acquired by venture capitalist owned AVP. Whether my next review will be as favorable remains to be seen, as I fear the negative effects of consolidation in the healthcare industry. I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

Dr Cohn Has Lost His Bedside Manners
I have been a patient of Dr. Cohn for about six years. I'm fifty-three years old and have a potential issue with one of my optic nerves. I'm a "suspect" for potential glaucoma. During the ten years of observation by Dr. Cohn and my previous doctor in Pinellas County, nothing has changed. When I last visited Dr. Cohn's office this May, he basically barked at me. It seems that during the COVID pandemic he lost all of his bedside manners. He barked at me that I was overdue for my annual checkup (Hello, COVID!) and told me that I've never done a field test (peripheral vision) in his office. I told him that I had and he barked at me again, "Not in my office, you haven't!" That field test is only available two days a week out of his office's working five days for whatever reason. On the phone today with his receptionist, she mentioned that he sold the practice to a corporation a year ago and he is now simply the hired doctor in the building. I'm looking for a new glaucoma specialist.

A doctor who stays current.
It is obvious that Dr. Cohn continues his education. He is a glaucoma specialist and is always aware of new medications and innovative procedures. If one approach or medication does not work for his patient, he will find what is best for that individual. He is positive in his words and manner, greatly helping to allay the natural fear of a glaucoma patient. He is kind, offering samples when it is necessary to prescribe an expensive medication. He takes the time to thoroughly explain results of tests and gives his patients the opportunity to ask questions.

I met the most friendly technician to do all the questioning and reading exams. Then waited for Dr. Cohn for 25 minutes after being told: |the doctor will be right with you? Dr. show up for a. not even three minutes eye exam. I was told by him that my eyesight was not the best (I am 81 years old) but my eyesight had not worsened in 2 years! All the other questions were unanswered. And there are a few. I cannot recommend this doctor and will certainly not go back there.

Dr. Richard Cohn & His Team are "THE SPIRIT OF HOSPITALITY." I have been going to Dr. Cohn for over 17 years and have had the most incredible relationship with him and his outstanding service team. They have always provided kindness, respect, compassion and over the years a true friendship that has sincere made me feel part his practice. I have had complex/challenging issues with my glacuoma where Dr. Cohn placed a tube in my left eye to equalize pressure. He has been managing and advising me regarding my cataract and frail cornea for the past few years. Dr. Rick has always advised me to be proactive and always takes the high road when it comes to our business relationship. He always does the right thing. It's not about the buck, but instead, about our relationship. He and his team are very integral and honorable. I recommend them highly for he is one of the best in the country at what he does as a surgeon and specialist. I am grateful to have been aboard all these years. Thanks Larry

My 49 year old son was referred to Dr. Cohn by our opthalmologist for a glaucoma condition that had developed in one eye that was injured years back. Pressure in the eye was going up despite regular drops. We got an appt. in a reasonable amount of time. Dr. Cohn is wonderful. He is thorough, highly experienced, and personable. He explains his observations and diagnosis clearly and answers all questions. He doesn't rush the visit. We had 2 consultations, evaluating all available treatment options. He referred us for surgery to a specialized eye center. His assistants and office staff are also fantastic, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

I have been a very satisfied patient of Dr. Cohn for 13 years. During this time he has performed surgery, as well as, annual checkups and other concerns for me. Due to his exceptional skills and great care I still have 20/20 vision and healthy eyes at the age of 73. I continue to refer friends and family to him with great results. When I have an appointment, I know I am in good hands, and his caring demeanor makes me feel like a extended member of the family. My visit was wonderful, as usual.

I have been going to Dr. Cohn for over 6 years and have been impressed since day one. I am a diabetic and need to go at least once a year for a check up (optical nerves). Not only Dr. Cohn but his entire staff treat you as if you are the only person in the world. Without a doubt he and his practice are second to none.

Excellent physician and surgeon. Explains everything in detail and very understanding and compassionate. Office and staff are excellent as well. My cataract surgery was flawless and I am really pleased with the results. My entire family sees him for their eye care. It is really a pleasure to find a physician who is a good listener, is smart, and spends the time to answer your questions. Matthew Apter M.D.
