Most Neurologists seem to have a dry sense of humor...if any at all. Dr. Harper is an exception. Gives all of the information he can prior to any treatment, and he makes sure that it is understood. Post-surgery he seems much more at ease with his patient (me)...and that is exactly what I want when a surgeon is going into an area where a lot of serious damage can occur. That said, Dr. Harper performed a complete laminectomy of my cervical spine. All feeling and use returned to my hands immediately and improvements continued post-surgery. I am returning to Dr. Harper for some thoracic spine issues and feel totally at ease and confident in his skill. Highly recommended!

Dr Harper has fixed my neck and back in two separate surgeries that took a decade apart. He restored function in my right arm and foot. I do just fine because of his excellent skills. Understand that he has a dry demeanor and is direct and honest. He is not a hand holding doctor. But he is a brilliant and talented doctor devoted to his profession. So I say, if you want a friend then get a dog. But if you want to get fixed and then move on in life then you head over to see dr Parker if you have an operable lesion. If you could give home more than 5 stars I would do it.

I went to Dr Harper for lumbar spine issues and serious walking and falling issues. I was on a walker at the time. He examined me and studied my MRI and records very throughly . As I described my symptoms he my walking problem wasn’t lumbar. Ordered a thoracic mri and called me the next day to set up Thoracic surgery to remove a benign meningioma. I was walking normally that night . Have walked unassisted ever since . Found Dr Harper to be very clinical when he was doing his job but very amicable post surgery .. exactly what I would want in a physician ! I would recommend Dr. Harper without hesitation. I plan to address the lumbar issues on the near future.

Unfortunately, it isn't easy finding a neurosurgeon willing to set aside an entire day for one patient just to do an osteophytectomy of three vertebral foramen. Dr. Harper is not in the business to help people bc if he was, he would help me by doing my osteophytectomy. He wants to conduct several surgeries in one day and its this that makes him selfish. Meanwhile I am left to suffer from pinched nerves in my cervical spine that are causing an array of problems and keeping me from working. This man needs to repent for his sins of not helping those in need. Look elsewhere is you want compassion and a good Christian surgeon.

First off you need to know up front that he has no bedside manner and is very to the fact and no time for chit chat. Having said all that...I was warned before I ever went that he was lacking in the above but I wasn’t looking for a friend, I was looking for a great doctor to operate on my back. That he is. So don’t be put off if he is rude and abrupt, he’s a great doctor.

HARPER SURGERY HELPED NOTHING, PLUS CREATED NEW CHRONIC PAIN In March 2017, Dr. Harper performed a Lumbar Laminectomy on me to supposedly eliminate the chronic nerve pain in my lower right leg. Before the surgery, Dr. Harper told me that he wasn’t 100% sure, but he was 95% sure that this surgery would eliminate the nerve pain in my right leg, so I hesitantly decided to go ahead with surgery. Dr. Harper’s surgery did absolutely nothing for the nerve pain in my leg, and in addition, created a NE

Dr. Harper is excellent neurosurgeon - world renowned. I had laminectomy - ruptured disc. Had obviously thoroughly read my patient info at first meeting - commented, asked good questions Conservative - only does surgery when only or best option to resolve the problems Listens. Answers questions very well - as much detail as patient wants. 5 hospital nurses & 2 MDs said "genius in OR". Not warm/fuzzy; but respectful, attentive, thorough & caring "Warm/fuzzy" people do not go into neurosurgery

I'm sure Dr. Harper is excellent at what he does, though he could not help me. He told me I had severe damage to my spinal cord, and that surgery nor any type of therapy would have the slightest effect. He appeared quite annoyed at my wife's and my questions, giving short and snooty responses. He told me I needed to accept my lot in life and move on. Dr. Robert Harper may be an excellent surgeon, but he is a callous, rude, and condescending man. I would recommend finding a doctor with heart.
