I wasn’t the only one
I saw Dr. McAdams in 2016 for pain at the base of my neck and into my left shoulder down my arm. He did X-rays and MRI. He found that I had ruptured my c4 and c5. He then recommended that I have an epidural done, a week later I did. When I say it was the worst experience I would have rather to have given birth to my 3 kids all over. My whole body seized up. I don’t know how I was able to make home if not for the grace of God. I could not move left or right, couldn’t twist or turn. I forced myself to sit because I needed to get home. I stayed like that until next morning. My husband was so shocked when he saw the state I was in. They next morning I was in the ER and on strong pain meds because he wouldn’t prescribe any. Surgery was in 2016. After my surgery he told my husband he understood why I was in so much pain because I had actually ruptured c4, c5, and 6. He didn’t listen to me. I have reached my pain threshold and am seeking help from a new Dr. because I can’t function properly.

Veteran C&P exam
This man is a no go!! He doesn't care or listen to the veterans concerns and basically turned it into an interrogation rather than a visit to help me recieve compensation for a legitimate ailment that was triggered during my time of service!! Very bad experience and no help whatsoever!!!

VA C&P exam. He argued with me about everything, even my dates of service! The entire exam was rushed and inadequate. He broke the Deluca rule and needs to be removed from doing c&p exams. I urge all veterans assigned to this dr to file a complaint with the VA.

I saw him way back in 2002. He operated on supposedly my L4/ L5, (turns out I have an L6 too). That day he'd been in the OR since 4:30am. He finally got to me at 8:45pm. When I went home I was unable to walk or lift the aluminum walker in order to rehabilitate. To make matters worse, when I stood up I would have this excruciating pain so severe that I felt I was breaking in two. When I called to tell them what was happening to me, his nurse practitioner dismissed me as if I didn't know what I was going through. It took a month and a half for them to get me back in for an MRI. McAdam told me that I needed more surgery, that he hadn't gone "deep enough' and he wouldn't charge me for the second surgery. Today, I'm in severe pain and literally, nothing can be done to help me anymore. If you allow this man to operate on you, you are risking your physical health for the rest of your life.

I saw Dr. McAdam for a VA Claim exam. I strongly do not recommend Dr. McAdam. I believe he has an agenda, to Not help veterans, to Not give an impartial exam, AND he also prosthelytized regarding his political beliefs. All of which are inappropriate. I felt he judged me. He is engaging and subtle. Be on your alert. He was condescending and blew off my concerns & legitimate symptoms. I even brought a recent low back MRI which he obviously disregarded and did not report. I had pain and deficits which he apparently did not report. He reported on rated areas that he was not asked to (e.g. Carpel tunnel). He did not ask me how my symptoms affected my job & life; he seemed to not listen. His exam was disorganized. In fact, he had me get on and off the examine table at least 4 times, as if he wanted to see if I was making up symptoms. I believe his agenda is to look for ways to deny claims, and not to be impartial. Be alert for this treatment & File a complaint.

I’m a veteran that came here for a C&P exam. It’s like the VA sent me here so my claim could be denied. The staff is unfriendly. The nurse here immediately accused me of lying because she asked me a question and I told her I didn’t remember. I told her it’s been 15 years since the incident and I can’t remember. She was loud with me.. and rush the appointment after I waited for an 1 hour or so to be seen. The doctor was brief and didn’t ask hardly anything. I sent the VA proof of diagnoses while in the service and treatment that I’m receiving today for it. If you have been assigned Richard Mcadam for your c &p exam please ask for another examiner right away. I don’t know why the VA would send me to a place like that and then rely on their feedback to determine if my claim is approved or not. When I first arrived the receptionist was unpleasant,, the whole staff was. I’m really hurt about how I was treated and accused of lying right from the start. The VA needs a new system. We’re dying.

When having an ACDF 2 years ago, the morning after the nurse began inhooking pain meds, saying I was being discharged. I protested best I could being heavily sedated, as I was experiencing excruciating pain in right shoulder blade area and couldn't find a comfortable position. I was literally yelling out in pain, trying to dress, while being wheeled down the hall and to car to go home. I had a miserable first week still in same pain. Today it appears the plate is tilted. Do not recommend!

Dr. McAdam has to be one of the finest medical professionals I've ever dealt with as a patient and professionally. There are certainly a lot of neurosurgeons out there who can do the job but I doubt seriously if any have as much hands on experience as this doctor. He performed surgery on my back over six years ago and with his gifted hands and sound recovery advise I've experienced a 180 degree improvement in my quality of life. I would not recommend any other neurosurgeon before him.

WORST NEUROSURGEON! Do your homework and you will find that he has no lawsuits listed because you have to physically go to the court house to get. He's captain malpractice, has no ethics, and has caused me over a decade of surgeries just to fix what he did. The titanium screws he placed in my lumbar became unscrewed, thus hitting my spinal cord and costing me my health for life. I've now seen some of the best surgeons in the U.S. and theyve all said he never should of had the surgery

I have been a patient of Dr. McAdam for decades. He did my spinal laminectomy in 1985, and my carpal tunnel surgery in 2016. I have never had a more caring, compassionate doctor. He is professional, and very thorough as well.
