Professional and very caring.
He never me feel as though I was limited to a time frame because of all his clients in the waiting room. Explained everything in detail. Two surgeries both from 2 accidents. Totally successful. The best!

Exceptional spinal surgery experience
After suffering from “sciatic” pain for a couple of months, I finally went to Emerson Hospital’s ER. Thanks to the proactive ER physician I received an MRI and an appointment with Dr. Whitmore; in addition to the severe pain in my left hip, I had been losing function in my left leg. Dr. Whitmore diagnosed my having severe spinal stenosis and a herniated disc and advised my having surgery within the week. I said yes and he handed me off to Amanda who made sure that all the required steps for surgery were performed; she was responsive, effective and compassionate. By the time I had my surgery, my “sciatic” pain had become unbearable, while I continued to lose function in my left leg. Following my surgery, I had zero sciatic pain and only normal post operative pain that lasted for only a couple of weeks and was easy to manage. My post-surgery appointments took place at the Lahey Hospital where I consistently received very kind and informative guidance. A complete 5-Star experience.

THE BEST!
Dr. Whitmore is a such great Neurosurgeon. He’s honestly the best of the best! He is smart, caring and patient and I have never felt better after having surgery. He took his time and explained everything I would experience every step of the way. It was such a comforting feeling knowing that he cared so much about me and my feelings. Now I am pain free and back to living my best life thanks to Dr. Whitmore. I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone that needs a neurosurgeon!

Awful, condescending
Dr. Whitmore was recommended to me by the cantu concussion center due to very concerning MRI results of my neck. His NP was rude as heck and, Dr. Whitmore only spent 10 minutes with me, and didn't even assess me. He was pretty rude as well and very condescending, breezed through my MRI results, couldn't answer my questions as to why his opinion was VERY different from the radiologist and 2 other doctor and said " I dont care what thr radiologists or other doctors say, im the neruo surgeon". His attitudewas disgusting, pretty much laughed me out of his office for being concerned about my neck and MRI results and told me it will just go away or to get a cortisone shot, even after saying I've had this pain for over a year. This "Doctor" is a complete joke and had a god complex. DO NOT SEE THIS GUY if you have actual concerns.

Given my age of 74, I found his direct and honest explanation of the complexity of my condition (severe stenosis in 6 vertebrae and a herniated disk) as well as the associated options and risks - together with his confidence highly reassuring. The surgery and the post op PT he prescribed have left me pain free and have returned me to my normal active routine and restful nights. Thank you Dr. Whitmore.
