Dr. Ronald Villanueva, MD

Family member has type 2 diabetes which was uncontrolled. Treated with previous endocrinologist for over 20 years, medications just kept getting increased but the numbers were still through the roof. Someone I know recommended Dr. Villanueva and I am so glad they did. Started with Dr. Villanueva back in May and in just 1 week doctor had the sugar levels within normal range, amazing! Here we are 8 months later and the numbers are still normal! Doctor and his entire staff are great. Highly recommend!!

I've been seeing Dr. Villanueva for many years now. He has a genuine interest in you and how you feel and always listens. He is very personable. I would highly recommend.

I have been a diabetic for more than 25 years. My endocrinologist treated me for more than two decades and his office was located in Somerset, NJ, where I used to live. In 2016, I moved to Howell, NJ, which was about 60 miles from my former doctor’s location. I continued to see the doctor, but when I turned 80 years old, the long trip started to become too difficult. I decided to be a patient of Dr. Villanueva since June, 2024. A little more than two months later, my level of frustration got to the point where I did not want to be his patient anymore. His office staff never returns calls even if they promise to do so, and do not respond to any voice mails I leave. when I talked to them again about this in mid-August, they claim that they are very busy and respond to voice mails in the order they receive it. I was mad and the doctor interjected in the conversations, telling me the staff is busy and whatever paperwork I was following up Is something that they are doing “as a favor” to me. Never in my life have I seen such haughty and disrespectful behavior by a doctor and his staff. I give the practice a 1 out of 5, for their disrespect and unprofessional behaviors.

For the first time in over 20 years of being a Type 2 diabetic, I am finally feeling like it is under control. Dr. Villanueva took the time to listen to my concerns and journey and put me on the right path of medications, Within weeks I saw immediate results, thus motivating me to have faith in the process. He and all of his staff are caring, responsive, helpful. I just can't say enough. Great job everyone!! Thank you for giving me my life back.

Dr. Villanueva is very caring and understanding and clearly gave me all the information I needed. The staff is also very friendly and polite.

Dr. Villanueva is an exceptional Dr. Truly listens & comes up with ideas & treatments & solves problems other Dr’s. didn't. Compassionate; caring; helpful; absolutely brilliant! Is very thorough & doesn't rush you; listens patiently to you as you explain things. His staff is excellent as well! His Medical Assistant is extremely efficient & goes above & beyond! I walked out of the office & couldn't stop telling everyone how much I loved Dr. Villanueva. I've never said that about anyone, & have seen a lot of Drs. in my lifetime due to family members with serious health issues. I have recommended Dr. Villanueva to everyone I know. Sheer perfection! They come no better!

I cannot speak to a live person. Have been trying to renew a prescription since last week....Shop Rite pharmacy has faxed many times, I have called many times and left messages. SR has given me a couple to tide me over but cannot do it any more...

Has the absolute worst office staff of any doctor I’ve ever been to don’t even think about trying to get your refill prescriptions in a timely manner will not happen. You should terminate his entire staff and replace it with confident people. They are going to ruin his practice

While Dr V is a highly competent and attentive doctor his phone and administrative staff leave A LOT to be desired. Extremely poor follow up regarding messages left, wait time for operator to pick up after being asked to wait is very bad. Besides being wanting in communication skills it is very rude of the "staff" who don't know jack about customer service. What a joke!

Swift and to the point.

Horrible! I never had the opportunity to see the doctor due to my insurance; however, the front desk staff told me he did accept my insurance, but found out he did not! This was a blank trip & waste of gas driving to his office.

I'm not sure if this is the same doctor but a dr Villanueva saved my daughters arm. She fell out of a tree putting a bird feeder she made in school up in our tree. It may have been 1979 or around that time. We were taken to lake west hospital by ambulance. She now lives in Columbus but we would like to find this doctor and thank him. He had an office at Shoregate but I'm not sure if he is still there. We will continue to look.
