Dr. Roopa Sathyaprakash, MD

For as long as I’ve seen Dr Roopa, it was never explained what my thyroid problem was—is it hypothyroidism? Is it Graves Disease? I was told to take a pill and see how I feel. Even when my bloodwork showed values equal to being off the meds, I was told it was in the normal range, but no one is considering what is normal for me. Then the doctor goes part-time, my appointment gets rescheduled 3 times, and I see PAs all different ones and my care has been very inconsistent. The last PA gave me cookie-cutter advice on weight loss without asking me what I’ve been doing to improve my health, look at my chart to see my progress, or listen to my concerns about feeling tired a lot. She says it’s all willpower and motivation. I’m so angry and frustrated at this point, I’m just ready to see someone else.

I have had two great appointments with Dr Roopa. We seemed to get my thyroid back on track and I was looking forward to my update with her - HOWEVER, when I went into my appointment they had me see someone else, and never told me that I wouldn't be seeing Dr Roopa. This other Dr was not informed, was not engaged in my personal needs and I felt like it was a major waste of my time. The staff was completely different than who I saw last time and honestly they were quite rude. I am not sure what happened, but I truly hope this was a strange fever dream and does not continue into my next appointment. I shouldn't have to request that they contact me if my Dr is not available for my appointment but I have done this to hopefully protect my next appointment from having some of the same issues.

Dr. Roopa no longer seems to take the time to provide quality, professional, patient driven care. Her schedule is always overbooked, she has her laptop open during visits, can't seem to follow the conversation, and contradicts care information provided at previous appointments. Her inability to read a chart prior to appointments is at a detriment to patient care. At two of my recent appointments, she has dismissed key complaints, concerns, and health shifts, all of which fall under her specialty endocrinology. I believe she ignores me out of appointment haste. 70% of my family members have diabetes, I had GD yet she has never had me tested. My health has declined under her care, and I am forced to look elsewhere for answers. In my experience, at the initial appointment, she makes the patient feel like you/they are dealing with a competent professional, then after a few months, she begins "good gal," medical gaslighting, and the relationship along with your health declines.

I gave been going to this practice for a number of years. Staff and office facilities are great. I usually am seen by PA Trang, who is wonderful but the couple of times I've seen Dr Roopa, she has been very professional and caring!

I’ve been seeing Dr Roopa for the past 5 years. She has always been very professional and truly interested in my health as had her PA Krista. They discuss my test results and what they mean. Dr Roopa takes her time and doesn’t rush the visit, which to me shows she is more interested in quality over quantity.

No waiting time. Doctor is very compassionate while maintaining professionalism & efficiency.

Dr Roopa is knowledgeable and caring. I see her for thyroid issues. Dr Roopa is very helpful and she helped me get into a Synthroid program when my insurance stopped covering it. She is very thorough during my visits and ensures my health issues are addressed. Her office is very efficient as well.

Dr Roopa is very thorough, gentle and is exceedingly open to my thoughts about managing my thyroid challenges. I can speak honestly and she listens and gives me her professional opinion. Her nurse is quick to return calls and help pharmacy with refill needs.

Dr Sathyaprakash has excellent bedside manners, explains diagnosis and treatment clearly. She pays close attention to the patient's observation of their own symptoms and concerns. It has been a real pleasure to work with a doctor that actually listens. I have been her patient for at least 10 years. Several in our family are her patients

Dr Roopa is very knowledgeable and treat patients with empathy and respect. I see her for both: diabetes and thyroid issues. Dr Roopa is always helpful and a good listener. She is very thorough during my visits to ensure all my health issues are addressed.

Dr. Roopa is caring and professional. But I would like to write about her team. The way they handled my appointments made me very frustrated. Despite having an appointment arranged and having taken a day off from work, I was told I did not have an appointment at the reception desk. Twice, they messed up my telemedicine and yelled at me over the phone. Later on, I proved they were wrong; they acknowledged it but did not apologize about it. Today again, the nurse told me I didn't have an appointment and the reminder sent to me for a blood test was a mistake. I don't understand why they keep messing up my appointments and don't care to find out the reason. They just told me " You need to make an appointment!"

I have been seeing Dr Roopa for years & I can’t thank her enough for the excellent care she has provided me.

Awesome doctor took care of my mom for years and been taking care of my diabetes for about 10 years and it is under control.

I love Roopa. I prefer to see her always.

Responded directly to my concerns . She did not dismiss them but immediately ordered test & revised my meds accordingly. She showed genuine concern for me. My only reason for not giving her 5 stars is that I only get to see her on alternate visits. I have to see her PA on every other visit & often get contradictory information from her . She has put me on generic drugs while Dr. Roopa specifies brand. She has changed Rx dose & then Dr. Roopa changes it back. Her PA has also given me different answers to questions about my drugs, timing, & interactions. I would prefer it if I could see Dr. Roopa each time & maintain consistency in my treatment.

A kind and calm physician...but that is no substitute for medical acumen. I am now facing cancer due to a poorly executed biopsy years ago. I now have a correct diagnosis. My new doctor didn't take over an hour to perform my biopsy as this physician did. I guess the lesson here is to get a second opinion when your doc can't perform a biopsy in an appropriate time frame.
