not a good doctor
this doctor prescribes excessive testing for patients. Some of the tests are invasive and carries risks. He relies less on patients clinical symptoms to make diagnosis. I underwent so many tests from him that my family doctor was surprised.

Not the doctor I chose
I scheduled the appt with one doctor but got another. Patients deserve better care and respect than this. Doctor switcheroo erodes the foundation that which a patient doctor relationship is built upon...TRUST. Find someone else, look at the reviews, the complaints follow a pattern.

From the moment I saw this Doctor, his goal was to push me off to his Physician Assistant. I waited an hour to find out that the PA does the initial intake and then you only see the Dr. for 10 minutes. Even during my procedure, I found out 10 minutes before that another Dr. was doing my procedure and gave me my results. Today, I went in and was told that I had an appointment with Dr. Rai to find out that my appointment was with the Physician Assistant. They told me that is how their practice operates. So, just know that you only get to see Dr. Rai if you are having a procedure and it may not even be him doing the procedure. He will do the follow-up on the procedure, but any other problems that come up, you get seen by the PA.

The first visit was great, and after the camera endoscopy I met with Dr Rai and received the results. After that however things went downhill. I was then pushed off on the PA, and never saw Dr. Rai again. It was actually discouraged from waiting for an actual appointment with Dr. Rai. The PA would not listen to what I was saying nor do anything to help resolve the issues that I was having so after 2 years I am still in the same situation as before I saw him, and have found a new gastro Dr. I tried for 2 days to reach somebody to have my records sent to the new Dr. and nobody would return my call. I finally had to call the front desk to speak to anyone to get my records. Avoid this practice at all cost, if you seek immediate help.

My sister and I both had our initial consultation with Dr. Rai and he seemed attentive and pleasant. We both scheduled an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. I was diagnosed with an IBD and we are unsure of my sisterโ€™s diagnosis. I decided to get a second opinion, and this backfired on me. Fast forward to few weeks later, my sister had another follow-up appointment with him and I went with her. During the appointment, he made smart comments to both of us. She asked for his recommendation, he told her to ask me for my recommendation or maybe get a second opinion (like I did). He told us both that he is tired of dealing with us.

Dr. Rai explained how my procedures went very thoroughly and showed me pictures of my procedures after I came out of the anesthesia. I was disappointed to learn that I was not meeting with him to learn my diagnosis, but rather with his physican's assistant, Monica. As it turned out, Monica is extremely knowledgeable and caring. She was very thorough and took time to answer all of my questions. I will definitely go back, as Dr. Rai and his team put me at ease and inspire confidence in their a

He was good during the first consultation but it went downhill from there. Had a colonoscopy and endoscopy by him and the amount charged to my insurance was close to $11,000; over $5000 was for anesthesia but there was only an anesthesia technician during the procedure and later I found that practice is owned by him! I was diagnosed with PreCrohn's disease but later when I showed the pictures to another GI, they did not agree with the diagnosis. The front staff is also inefficient/unhelpful.

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy a week ago and had a wonderful experience with Dr. Rai and his staff. I read the negative reviews and, fortunately, did NOT come close to anything of the like. I hope this continues. I believe in Dr. Rai's expertise, as well as his staff's. He discovered multiple issues I had been dealing with for 10+ years and we are in the process of fixing them. He even made mention that we could control my issues through diet. I was pleased his first go to was not meds

Dr Rai performed an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy. I had no complications and my biopsy was negative. Total time spent with Dr. Rai in the initial consultation, discussion prior to the procedures, discussion after the procedures, and in the follow-up visit was between 5-10 minutes total (a nurse practitioner performed the initial consultation and follow-up visit). I was unable to obtain a cost estimate prior to the procedures. My insurance company was billed >$11,000 for the two procedures.

I was a patient with Dr. Rai for over 8 years dealing with PBC. Dr. Rai is a good doctor but I noticed a decline in staffing quality and professionalism as the years progressed. Their feedback and accuracy became untrustworthy. I also was very disappointed with how my diagnostics were handled after doing a fibro scan of my liver. They wanted me to go through a path that, as I found out, was totally unnecessary. I would recommend him for some specialties of the liver but not PBC.

Dr. Rai and his physician assistant Jen never followed up. They do not return phone calls. I have been waiting four months to get the result of important lab tests. I have never had such a negative experience with any doctor, bordering on malpractice. Yesterday I called my insurance company (who paid them) -the insurance company called the practice. Only after getting a call from the insurance company did the physician assistant return my call. She said she'd send me the results. Nothing yet.
