Dr. Ryan Bauman, MD

I met with Dr. Bauman, and then decided to move forward with his recommendation for an anterior hip replacement. (I have left a previous review based on this initial appointment). I decided to move forward with the surgery. I am now eleven days post surgery and can walk comfortably with or without a cane. I am absolutely amazed, and so very thankful! I no longer have any stabbing pain in my groin, and can be up moving around all day with nothing more than acetaminophen. Dr. Bauman has literally given me my life back! Thank you Dr Bauman!

I met with this physician today regarding a hip replacement surgery. He was down to earth, informative, compassionate, and caring. I didn’t feel rushed, and he was very thorough in his explanation of my options, and the outcomes for either option. He came highly recommended as I have three friends who have had Dr Bauman perform their hip and knee replacements. He was very down to earth, and must have blessed hands.

Dr Bauman is a wonderful doctor. I first saw him 13 yrs ago for my left knee he did a total replacement. Almost 2yrs ago he did my right knee! And if anything every goes wrong with either knee, I have full faith in Doctor Bauman as a Doctor and my Knee surgeon and I will if needed go back to Doctor Bauman without a second thought.

I had three dislocations because I was tall and the stem he used was too short. Also, the cup was not recessed far enough into pelvic bone. The dislocations destroyed my adductor muscle. I will never walk without a cane.

Dr. Bauman replaced my hip a year ago and the procedure left me with drop foot that is permanent. It was fine when I went in and was totally paralyzed when I woke up. Nerve tests show significant nerve injury near the surgery site. Likely damaged during manipulation of my leg. It is so much worse than it sounds. I have to wear a brace all the time to keep from tripping and falling down and I am unable to do so many things that I used to be able to do. I can't carry my kayak or get into or out of it unaided. I can no longer dance, or run, or bowl, or so many other things. This has completely changed my life for the worse. I used to be independent and very active, now, even with a brace and cane, I can barely walk in the yard or go up the stairs without difficulty. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Bauman as a surgeon!

Dr. Bauman did my hip replacement surgery on September 9. I was out of the hospital the same day. Off the walker in one day. Off the cane in 2 weeks and walking pain free ( in the hip joint). His bedside manner is a perfect mix of facts and humor. At pre surgery appointments he answered every question and never seemed rushed. His staff returned every call I made, promptly. The practice is busy so there can be a small wait for appointments, but not too bad. If you need a hip replacement in the Dayton area, quit searching, this is your guy. He gave me back my active life.

If you need knee replacement, this is the doctor to see! Extremely knowledgable, friendly, patient-focused. Very well-organized process prior to/after surgery. Go to the pre-surgery class!! I followed all their orders and had an amazing outcome, better than my friends/family have had elsewhere.

I had two hip replacements on the same leg. Dr Bauman is a very nice doctor but doesn't explain things very well. I think his time is limited, so has to get to everyone. The office ladies could be a little more helpful.

I've had both hips replaced by Dr. Bauman, and have had fantastic results! Both were done at MVHS, home same day on both, minimal pain and quick recovery. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Bauman to anyone who is thinking about hip replacement.

Doctor Bauman just did my hip at Miami Valley South hospital on July 1st, 2019, The entire experience from the first time I went into talk to Dr. Bauman to being discharged from the hospital was one of pure satisfaction. I experienced virtually no pain in my hip after surgery and was walking with a cane after one week of being home. The staff at the orthopedic Institute and Miami Valley staff were outstanding and I must say if I had any concerns prior to surgery they were definitely removed after my stay. I certainly would not hesitate to have another procedure done at Miami Valley South and using Dr. Bowman as an orthopedic surgeon in the future.

Dr Bauman is the finest orthopedic surgeon I have ever had the priveledge to know. I had bilateral knee replacement one year ago. He was thoroughly committed to my well being and success. Literally everyone in the regional healthcare profession I dealt with after my surgery, from the nurses, physical therapists and Miami VSHosp know of his reputation of excellence and professionalism. I was back to work on 7 short weeks. I got my life back a was backpacking w/my grnddghtr in 6 months post op.

Dr Bauman is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. Just had my second total hip arthroplasty and everything went well. I would highly recommend him to family and friends.

Dr. Bauman replaced my left hip in February 2017 using the anterior method. The results were absolutely amazing! I went walking through a boat show with a cane 9 days later! I only missed 7 days of work and walked in to my 2 week follow up completely unassisted and pain free. If you’ve been putting it off and are fed up with the pain, make the appointment with Dr. Bauman! You’ll be glad you did, Your quality of life will improve!!

Dr, Bauman and his staff are friendly, concerned and listen to the patient. I had a hip replacement and feel great.

Dr. Bauman is knowledgeable, friendly, empathetic, and compassionate. His communication skills are excellent. He takes the time needed to provide explanations and I've never felt rushed. He is never condescending and always makes me feel valued. He is complimentary when appropriate. I would highly recommend him to everyone I know.

Dr. Bauman performed an Anterior Hip Replacement for me in June, 2016. The results were incredible!! I did not experience much swelling or pain after the surgery. I took a pain killer for only I day after surgery. The rehab went very well. Dr. Bauman is not only an excellent surgeon, but has very pleasant bedside manners. He puts the patient "at ease". In Feb 2015 Dr Bauman replaced both my hips using the anterior method. The surgery and recovery were quick and painless. The pain during my 12-day exercise rehab was minimal, and was completely gone within a week or two. Since then, I've had absolutely no after-effects, no pain, and the hips have full range of motion; it's as though I've never had a hip problem! As for Dr Bauman himself, I found him to be very polite, extremely knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions I had.

I recommended Dr Bauman to several who need hip replacement. He is sincere, caring and patient when answering my questions. A few days after surgery, he even called me on a Sat morning after I had called his nurse for some help. My hip replacements, both hips frontal approach, at the same time went extremely well and recovery seemed easy! All his staff were available, helpful and encouraging especially Kelly who does scheduling. I highly recommend the joint class before surgery. Valuable info.
