Incredible surgeon
I've had 2 cervical spine surgeries with Dr. Swaid, both of which had excellent results, and both of which are still in perfect condition 6 and 20 years later. Personable doctor who explains things well and has a great staff and facility.

I was referred to Dr Swaid by his colleague Dr Bramlett. I had been in severe pain following a auto accident. It took 5 weeks to get in to see him! He referred me for a cevical injection. I had to call on his staff for 2 weeks to send the referral and when they finally did it did NOT include the orders! I’m now 4 weeks past my visit with Dr Swaid and I’ve yet to get the injection scheduled because the doctor doing the shot needs more information about what Dr SwAid had ordered!!! My accident was 6 months ago and I’ve been dealing with Swaid for over 6 weeks of that!!! At this point I’d be better off cutting my arm off and hoping for a miracle drug that would regrow a new arm! (I’m joking! Humor is sometimes the only medicine when dealing with incompetence!) I start looking for a new doctor tomorrow!!! Dr. Swaid might be great surgeon, but due to his incompetent staff, I’ll never know!

Pain-in-the-Neck – Jul 31, 2021
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Swaid?
I went to Dr. Swaid because of the most dreaded pain of all, trigeminal neuralgia. It was indescribably awful. It isn't called the 'suicide disease' for nothing. He treated me with the gammaknife. The shots given to fit the head frame were awful. Painful. But I withstood them because I trusted his knowledge. Applying the head frame was awful too. Pressure so much it seemed it would crack my skull. Again, I trusted him because he had done so many. It worked ! Pain was gone and stayed gone for 10 years. But it came back -- which is not uncommon for trigeminal neuralgia. This time he treated me with the new device, Cyberknife. No pain, no shots, no head frame. I will admit that I went through a lot of pain during the adjustment time for the treatment to work. It did work. All I take for meds now is 2 Lyrica/day. Thats it.

Highly recommend Dr Swaid. Great staff and his Nurse and PA, Mallory and Morgan, are very personable and competent. He performed a laminectomy on my back in October with excellent results and pain relief. Highly recommend him if you need a Neurosurgeon.

I had cervical spine surgery three years ago and was pleased. He never promised anything but did tell me I’d see improvements and did. I had severe cervical stenosis and unfortunately my issue was so bad it has left permanent damage to spinal cord. Looks as if I’m having surgery again based on new issues in cervical spine. He never approach’s you eager to cut you open. I have a lower back issue and told several times he would not operate. I trust him and his honesty. Great physician/surgeon.

A wonderful, caring doctor who is not eager to immediately perform surgery unless you try alternatives to the problem, if available. I had back surgery 7 years ago, and neck surgery 6 years ago. My problems were resolved as best as they could be. Dr. Swaid was realistic in explaining expectations and possible outcome(s). He's a straight talker, and to some, he might appear gruff; he's actually not that way after you get to know him. I am seeing him again this year for additional back issues.

He does not promise you will be better but he said something like if you want to get back to doing the activities you were doing. I really think he said that to lure me into surgery which made me much worse. My quality of life went down significantly and when I went back, he acted like he did not care. It has been 3 years so I have given it significant time to heal. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I had a Lumbar Spine surgery in 2013 in which Dr. Staid performed. I had to have 2 disc lamenectomies and 2 disc fusions at level L4-L5 and L5-S1. I was out of work for 8 weeks but was pain free after 1 week post-op. I HIGHLY recommend him to everyone.

I had been in pain for years and finally came to see Dr Swaid after a relative shared with me how much better they were doing following their neck surgery. It was the best decision I've made in years. I feel like I'm 20 years younger.

He was ready to perform surgery then admitted it wouldn't resolve the problem. Seemed to be offended when questions were asked. He said the nurse should have answered our questions about the surgery. He doesn't like to answer questions. He seems to be the type of Doctor that wants you to do whatever he tells you without questions. When I said we are told to be proactive about our health, his response was that's highly over rated.

When I had a questionable MRI, I called Dr. Swaid for advice. He immediately reviewed the MRI and called me personally to tell me to get to his office. He literally met me at the front door and walked me through what would have otherwise been a scary process. He was great. I would highly Dr. Swaid.
