Regarding my colonoscopy experience... while I'm positive Dr. M's an excellent physician, his bedside manner needs some doctoring! From the sweet receptionist, to each nurse, to the anesthesiologist; all were top notch, caring, helpful and so kind. Dr. McCashland was the opposite. He made me feel small when I was there for an already uncomfortable procedure, like he had NO TIME for ME. I had actually fainted twice from the prep so walked in with a bloody, split ear and huge bump on my head and he didn't even acknowledge that. In fact, he didn't really say 'hello' - just basically, 'I'm Dr. Mc..., sign these forms & we'll get started'. I asked if there was a better prep to avoid passing out and while he explained the types, he never smiled, never said I'm sorry you had a bad experience, just NOTHING positive about my time with him. Sadly, I also noticed he coughed 3x into his hand-not elbow. Unprofessional! And, there was NO follow up after procedure. Was not impressed.

UNMC Village Pointe is great. But Dr McCashland…..
I have been going to UNMC Village Pointe for the last year …mainly for cardiac rehab, which has been awesome! I also just went for a colonoscopy and the nursing and clinical staff were wonderful with the exception of my physician, Dr Timothy McCashland. Although he was medically very competent, his bedside manner was a complete zero. I’d never had a colonoscopy before and was a bit concerned about the procedure but he gave me the impression that he really couldn’t be bothered to understand how I might be feeling and was uninterested in providing any explanations or reassurances. I also never saw him after the procedure and that didn’t impress me. The nursing staff was great but it would have been appreciated if he’d popped into the recovery room for a moment and discussed the results. I have to say it was a very atypical experience with a UNMC physician…all the others I’ve dealt with have been amazing. Maybe Dr McCashland was having a bad day. I’ll chalk it up to that .

I had a very positive experience with this doctor and all the staff at the Village Point location for a colonoscopy. Everyone from the receptionist to nurses to anesthesia were super nice, accommodating and explained everything clearly.

I have only seen Dr. McCashland 4 times but have found him to be direct and honest. He answered my questions and my family's questions. He assesses my current treatment plan every time and offers anything he thinks might be beneficial. He follows through with what he says he is going to do. I am glad he looks my chart over carefully each time. I wouldn't expect him to remember me or the details even after 1 day. Better to not make a mistake.

Do not go to this Doctor! He came and spoke to me after the test while my husband was still under. Barely spent 3 minutes with me.. He fidgeted, kept looking up the hallway. Hardly looked me in the eye. Later when I asked the nurse to have him come and speak directly to my husband because I wanted him to hear the diagnosis, the same thing! He acted both times like we were burdens on him. Had NO INTEREST in our situation which is quite serious. May as well be a car mechanic.

A caring and thoughtful man, overworked at Director of the Transplant Program but takes the time to ask if there is anything else he can do for you, and then he follows through. Smart and caring.

He was very unfriendly and acted annoyed when questions were asked about my mother's care. He had to pull up her chart in front of us to even know why she was there.
