Dr. Torrey Poholsky, DO

He killed our precious dad through starvation and medication. He was also awful to our family- saying comments to our mom like, “He’s taking up a bed.”

We had this physician “manage” a family member while at MUSC Columbia. My parent had a heart attack on his watch that wasn’t addressed until a new hospitalist on the next shift caught up on the situation. Poholsky is terse, condescending, and has an attitude problem. He clearly hates his job— wrong career for patients and families dealing with inpatient situations. Maybe try radiology for a career instead! Instead of answering reasonable questions for those of us that chose not to be a D.O., Poholsky responds with, “as I told you yesterday…” (Knock it off, man). Trust me, I’m not wasting my time on a question “from yesterday.” Instead, I’m asking a question TODAY that he refuses to answer because he’s not really hearing what we are trying to say and he’s thinking about how many more patients he has to see. And, by the way, my time is valuable too, Poholsky. Families aren’t in these rooms to hang out and chat. Just answer the question and be accountable. Please take a sensitivity class.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. This man has no empathy or compassion either for his patients or the patients' families. If you had cancer, would you want a doctor that tells you that you will die and that it's your fault bc you shouldn't have smoked? This is essentially how this doctor treated our beloved father- as if he were not a human being. Please, please avoid this man at all costs.
