Dismissive, Impatient and Rude
I've lived with my condition for five years and seen a total of 8 doctors over the years due to moving and needing a specialist as a primary. My eye was saved by one doctor. Dr Waterhouse was a local ophthalmologist I saw for some bi-yearly scans to be sent to my primary ophthalmologist who is at a further distance. Dr Waterhouse did not care about who I was, the history of my condition, what I've been through or the fact that I do know quite a bit about my situation and that I can read my scans. He would not listen to me. I felt dismissed, belittled and like he didn't care at all for what I've been through. It was easier just to be silent.

Dr. Waterhouse saved my vision!
On December 16, 2022, I had a shadow showing up in my vision. I called the retina center, they fit me in at 4:00 that very day and, by 6:30, Dr. Waterhouse had diagnosed and repaired my detached retina. He is amazing. Very caring, fully explained what was happening, and my vision is fully restored in that eye. I am so grateful to have such an experienced, talented doctor here in Grand Junction who is able to diagnose and repair such a significant eye problem. Thank you to Dr. Waterhouse and his staff!

Dr. Waterhouse is nothing short of professional, caring and extremely capable! Basically he saved my eyesight when I had a badly torn detached retina...during covid. He immediately performed surgery and my vision is normal again. We in Grand Junction are very very fortunate to have this experienced specialist in our area. His office staff are very careful and quick to help make sure their patients are cared for.

Dr. Waterhouse told my relative she had macular degeneration, she’s going to go blind and she should get used to it. The office staff was also rude and she was overcharged.

Dr. Waterhouse is an excellent eye surgeon. He reattached my retinal tears and his staff does a great job of reminding me of follow-up and check-up appointments. We are lucky to have Dr. Waterhouse in the Grand Valley. The office is quiet, clean and comfortable and wait times are reasonable. To my knowledge, there are no physicians where you don’t have a wait time in the lobby. It goes with the territory as every patient’s needs differ. So accept it and be glad someone can help you. Be patient ;)

Dr. Waterhouse literally saved my eyesight. He found tiny holes in my retinas that had previously been overlooked by two specialists. He may not be chatty but I'm not there to socialize. I truly appreciate his dedication and professionalism.

After reading the review of Dr Waterhouse, I felt I had to leave a review. I read all the reviews and really did not know what to expect. First, my husband and I arrived early and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The office was extremely clean. They took us almost immediately upon filling out the paper work. Dr. Waterhouse was kind, friendly and very thorough. I felt he was compassionate for me and the rigorous exam that was needed. Take other reviews with a grain of salt.

My eye doctor found start of detachment in one eye, recommended Waterhouse. His office scheduled me out 1 week, rather than seeing me right away. The next day detachment increased, so I called. Waterhouse reassured me I could wait. In the next couple days my retina fully detached. 1 month later he did surgery. Can now only see shades of light. Had he responded sooner, things might be different. If you have any signs of detachment, make the drive to Denver or Salt Lake and see real doc.

Dr. Waterhouse is not the doctor you should choose if you need someone to be sympathetic, understanding, and diplomatic. Dr. Waterhouse is the doctor you should choose if you need an excellent surgeon who will save your eyesight. I have a rare form on cancer. Dr. Waterhouse not only reattached my retina, his letter to the other doctors involved resulted in action that helped me get treatment.

Dr. Waterhouse has no bedside manners. Very rude and condescending. Office staff is the most unorganized I've ever seen in the medical profession. Office procedures are antiquated. My optometrist has more sophisticated equipment. He does absolutely know what he's doing but appointments are less than pleasant. Wish we had a choice.

I've been seeing Dr. Waterhouse for over 4 years. He understands my condition (which is rare) and knows exactly how to deal with it. I appreciate his formalness because he has alleviated any fear I started with about getting shots in my eyes. He's quiet, but once you get to know him, he's really nice. He saved my eyesight and I will forever be grateful for that.
