Great Doctor
Dr. Abu-Omar was the lead surgeon for my aortic valve replacement surgery, and not only is he a people person (excellent bedside manner), but is extremely intelligent. He gave me a lot of confidence going into surgery ('we got this') and explained the process and expected outcomes. He is very rare in that he's both a people person (back to bedside manner...) and more than knows his craft, which was very reassuring. My recovery has been going well and can't offer up enough praise for Dr. Abu-Omar, plus his staff as well....

Sep. 30th I had triple By-pass surgery (with complications). I am very fortunate to have Dr. Abu-Omar as my surgeon. He is a truly amazing surgeon. I can't say enough about the care I received from Dr Abu-Omar and his entire team. I am very thankful to him and his entire team for all their hard work and excellent care before, during, and after my surgery. I highly recommend Dr Abu-Omar. And after surgery… “NO PAIN”... Amazing.

Recognition of an outstanding associate
I would like to recognize Shelby Howard who is a secretary in Dr. Abu-Omar's office. Due to personal reasons, I was not able to have my heart surgery in Cleveland. Dr. Abu-Omar was able to refer me to a qualified surgent in The Texas Heart Institute Houston, Texas; which is closer to my home in New Mexico. Shelby worked closely with me step by step to insure that all of my medical records, and test results were transfer to Houston. Shelby is a dedicated associate who sincerely cares about people. It is rare in today's times to find people like Shelby. In my last conversation with Shelby, I thanked her for all of her help. The way Shelby cares, I felt like she was part of my family. Thank you Dr. Abu-Omar for having Shelby on your staff.

Outstanding Surgeon Who Cares
Dr. Abu-Omar is an amazing surgeon! I was extremely ill and my family was told I may not make it and that surgery was the only option available. But Dr. Abu-Omar and his staff were there every step of the way doing whatever it took to save my life. He performed an extremely difficult open heart surgery on me and I survived! So thankful to him and his team for all their hard work and compassionate care.

Telehealth
Dr. Abu-Omar is an excellent heart surgeon. I had triple by-pass surgery on May 11, 2024. I was out of ICU in less than 24 hours and walking in the step-down unit. I had absolutely no pain the entire time I was in the hospital or at home. My incision is healing well. I have already told family and friends about him as a heart surgeon. My two friends and brother were very impressed with his down to earth communication to them while I was in surgery and during recovery. I can't say enough about Dr. Abu-Omar. He saved my life and I feel rejuvenated. As a retired professor and lover of travel and adventures...I thank him.

My initial consultation with Dr. Abu-Omar was to determine next steps after my diagnosis. I felt very comfortable with the discussion regarding my open-heart surgery. He explained in detail what my surgery would entail from the start to the finish of the procedure. My second visit from Dr. Abu-Omar was surgery day. I had all the confidence in the world that I was in good hands with him and his team.

My Heart Surgery Experience and New lease on life
From the moment I was admitted into the hospital, and into the Pre op Ward I was treated with kindness , courtesy and compassion. Everyone worked together completely and Perfectly. I met the staff who were to be involved with my surgery beforehand and felt completely at ease. Dr. Omar met with me, and explained what his plan for my surgery was. He was very kind and compassionate. I was in awe and amazed by everyone who was there when I entered the operating room. I was completely at ease. I was struck by everyone there, who from their different Jobs they were to preform in there were all brought together in this space and time , Just to take care of me. Dr. Omar was in charge. when I woke up after my surgery in the intensive care unit I couldn't believe how much I instantly felt better. From then on, from my time when I was in the ICU, I was treated with extreme care, Kindness and attention. When I was moved into the stepdown unit, Everyone took exceptional care of me during my stay.
