Bethany Doerfler

Honestly, my review was good but after current events I needed to switch it. General questions can be answered and she does have great bedside manners, but I've been seeing her for over a year now and we've gotten nowhere with my diet and there's still multiple concerns that haven't been addressed, just keep suggesting the same couple things even though they've been proven to not work. When I have clear indication of malnourishment she didn't step up and try to intervene and help with my other doctors. It seems like she might have too many patients to properly spend time with each individual, which is really unfortunate because like I said, she has really good bedside manners. She is also really hard to get ahold of and will leave you on read for awhile, which isn't comforting.

Bethany was recommended by my GP due to recurring IBS symptoms and my Type II Diabetes. Unfortunately, my diet was often affected by many destructive influences: migraines; extreme nausea; debilitating depression and anxiety (which lead to extreme bouts of binge eating or stretches of food deprivation); poor menu choices- deliberate or not. I had been to another nutritionist previously, and while I have no doubt they were competent, I found that they had neither the intuitive communication skills, nor the professional manner that I have with Bethany. Now I am working with someone able to see the “big” picture and helping me find fluid, healthy solutions to my diet that I can actually sustain while battling the bigger health issues. It’s a pleasure to deal with Bethany; a compassionate, informed & highly intelligent health professional. While I know I still have many struggles ahead of me, I am confident that Bethany will be able to guide me through them successfully.

Bethany is a phenomenal nutritionist at Northwestern memorial hospital's gastroenterology dept. She has helped me with managing my food choices for ulcerative colitis, diabetes, and IBD. She has a very direct and effective approach, and I have to say, cares for her patients like no other. She is incredible!
