Dr. Derek Guarino, OD

One one hand, Dr. Guarino is fantastic. Clearly cares about his patients, explains everything fully and is very thorough. Office manager Jennifer is rude and condescending, talks down to you like a child and talks over you on the phone. For the sole reason of having to deal with her my family will not return. It's unfortunate for Dr. Guarino that she is chasing patients away from his otherwise excellent practice. The other office person (Carrie) was a pleasure to deal with but I will not give my business to anyone that treats me or my family this way. If Jennifer leaves the practice I will update my review to 5 stars and my family will be loyal customers/patients again.

This was my first visit - I went to the Laconia office. Dr. Guarino was exceptionally nice. He introduced himself as Derek not Dr. which immediately put me as ease. He was thorough in his examination, explaining a few things that I was not aware of in my 40+ years of eye exams. I will definitely refer him to friends and will make sure I see him every 2 years.

Dr. Guarino himself is absolutely wonderful. He is patient, thorough and friendly. He answers all of your questions and does not rush you at all. His wife Jennifer- the receptionist, on the other hand, is the most unprofessional woman I have ever encountered. She is incredibly rude and doesn’t try to help in the least. She talks over you on the phone and speaks to you like you are child. If you try to bypass her and speak to Dr. Guarino himself, she will not allow it. I am leaving because of her
