Katie Metzger, PA

Katie Metzger used to be my PCP, at first I felt as if I could trust her. After a year and a half of agonizing pain and thousands of dollars in tests with no diagnosis (even with insurance), I switched doctors & offices completely. I've since had two surgeries, and been diagnosed with four separate things related to the pain I was experiencing. In my opinion Katie is not a doctor who entered the field to help people, she entered it for the title and paycheck.

Katie was so kind and compassionate with me. I felt very comfortable asking questions because there was no judgement from her end. I love receiving health care from smart young women like Katie that I can trust!! Definitely would recommend. I had such a positive experience!

Don't know who she upset looking at all these reviews but my experience has been great! I followed her from a different clinic to one she is at now.. i see her for chronic back pain and cholesterol and I think she is really good at helping me with both.

Katie Metzger took my aging mother off her regular prescriptions she had been on for years, told her she didn't them any more, and replaced them with a new one. Within a couple weeks mom began having seizures, insomnia, tremors, extreme restlessness, pain in her joints & has developed agoraphobia. She is nauseated & unable to eat and has been rapidly losing weight. Mom had been fine prior to the appointment with Katie. Santiam Medical denies that their providers can make mistakes and has told us to seek medical attention elsewhere!

My daughter and husband both see Katie and they always have a good experience when they see her. She is quiet when they speak, very thoughtful and thorough and provides clear impressions and a description of any treatment plan.

I have a severs sinus infection. Unfortunately it persisted as I had left out of town the week after. I called for a simple request for continuation of my antibiotics. I was told it could be worse and to go to local emergency room. In La? Thank you very much, my grandson survived surgery in Doernbeckers today, Believe me I know it could be worse. Thank you for NOT taking care of a very simple need and myself unnecessary spending hours in a LA emergency room for a simple continuation of antibiotics for my sinus infection before it goes into ammonia. I will be seeking medical care from another physician from now on. Thank you for making a crappy day even crappier and not taking care of me in my darkest hour of need!!!!

Katie shocked me! The same day appointment was supposed be for a physical exam & any testing needed to check out acute symptoms. But instead, Katie accused me of trying to get a 2nd prescription for a controlled medication which I have on hand for emergencies. Why would I do that when I wasn't out & still had a refill that hadn't been filled? She could see it herself when she pulled up the PDMP on her computer to lecture me from but didn't bother to mention it. Her notes and opinions reflect a biased negative attitude toward me that had nothing to with the reason for the appointment! She did all the talking which put me on the defensive in an effort to protect myself. Not once was the problem I originally came in for addressed & the accusations & pill shaming were totally unjustified!

I went to Santiam Medical Associates in Stayton, OR for an annual wellness physical. The MA took my pulse, blood pressure, & temp. Katie Metzger, PA came in & listened to my chest with a stethoscope. She never had me take my clothes off for a full exam as expected. Instead, Katie inquired who my specialist providers were to see if she had rubbed elbows with them while nodding her head in agreement as if she recognized their names. Katie also made sure to advise me that she graduated top of her class in medical school with the highest GPA. The total time in the office was 10 minutes at most. Before I left Katie asked me to post a positive review for her. What kind of medical exam was that? I went to the clinic for a preventative health exam. I didn't go in to stroke her ego! Is this typical behavior for providers at Santiam Medical Associates? If so, I wont be going back.

She was very caring and nice. I think she really cared about me getting better. I hope I do not have to go in again for my condition, but would be okay if Katy is there. She is a good nice professional young woman and seemed very smart. I felt comfortable sharing my condition with her and trusting her good advice.

Katie worked with us to get my 89 year old mother off some more of her meds. She is doing great, better than she has been in a long time. She also makes a point to talk to mom, not just me, which we both really appreciate! Many other doctors ignore her because she is elderly and has some dementia. I have seen her for myself also and have been very happy with my care. Our family has been happy with all of our care from this clinic.

My father has been very sick and just not himself. We've taken him multiple times because something has been off and she just shrugs it off. She had seen him the SAME day we took him to Salem ER and they found he had a severe case of pneumonia and has been in the hospital for a week. Not a professional doctor AT ALL!!

Katie is a perfect example of why some people become doctors and others just don’t have the mental capacity to. She isn’t good enough to know she isn’t knowledgeable enough about the myriad problems facing her daily. If your condition is small like a cold she is probably fine. But anything more that could seriously impact your long term health or be potentially life threatening stay away. Her misdiagnosis and other mistakes can have lasting effects.

Looks like Katie might have made the wrong person mad, these negative reviews all look like they were written by the same source. I’ve seen Katie multiple times, she’s been nothing but gracious. Yes, she’s young, which means she’s much less cynical than many others I’ve seen, and more willing to listen. She’s smart and kind. Good PA, 5/5 would recommend to a friend.

Great experience! Visits like these are never fun, but Katie made it easy. Seemed to know what she was talking about, broke it down into terms we could understand, seemed like she cared more than a lot of other people I’ve seen in my day. Good PA!

She orders new prescriptions that could have potential negative side effects with no knowledge of personal health history or medical exam first. Unprofessional, arrogant and condescending towards senior citizen with disability. Would not recommend and will not return

had a most dehumanizing experience at Santiam Medical from this arrogant, vindictive, power tripping rookie with underhanded tactics that twisted & misused unrelated info picked up from inter office gossip

Easy to talk too. Listened and helped explain options for the best care for myself and my daughters. We’re glad we found her!!

Had seen another provider at this clinic previously, all pleasant experiences. Called for follow up but that provider had left clinic. They made appointment with this PA. It was the most unpleasant experience I ever had. She was demanding, exacting & threatening. I will never go back!

Young (under 30) with approx. 2 years experience since graduation & clearly enamored with authority & power. She is cold, unkind & calculating with a controlling agenda. I originally called the medical office with a simple request, was given appointment (did not choose Katy) & left feeling used, deceived & violated. I would never intentionally return to this provider for any kind of medical care. It was a horrible, traumatizing experience
