Excellent Read Below :)
I read the negative reviews before I went to see Virgina Whitney PA in Portland. I triple checked thinking I saw a person different from who they saw. Nope. Same person. I promise.Basically they said she didn’t listen. So I figured I won’t bother to try talking. I wasn’t expecting much but my ins required that I see her. I’m still stunned!! I’m almost in tears of appreciation. I think she read every in my file that would be related to helping me with my migraines…it’s a lot. I don’t know how. FOLKS, SHUT UP!! Give it a try. She’s being efficient!! She double checked some things, did an exam, found reflexes that no one has in 36 years…I’m not kidding. She made recommendations we discussed the pros and cons to create a game plan. I know I’m in good hands.

Unwilling to be part of health care team
My son & I had an appointment with Ms Whitney, it seemed to go well. However we wanted to double check on all the medications that she recommended and asked that a relative of ours who is a neurologist out of state discuss them further by phone and she declined the call. Very unprofessional and not someone I want as part of our care team. I also left a message with the office manager who never returned the call. Now I am am paying a huge bill for the visit despite insufficient care

Bedside manner is non-existent.
Virginia doesn't take the time to listen to her patients. I told her marijuana helped my migraines and she told me it wasn't true because text books can't verify it. I told her as her patient it was true. She never gave me all of my injections. I'm pretty sure she was using it on herself and I was paying for it. I no longer see her.

Working with Virginia was one of the most frustrating and shame-inducing experiences I’ve had with a health care provider. She does not listen effectively. She placed blame on me for having migraines despite following all of her advice. She did not return phone calls or messages. She did not return test results until I asked for them, even a brain MRI. Her staff could not accurately relay messages. Virginia is cold in her bedside manner and presents to you what is expected to work according to research and if it doesn’t go that way, she assumes you’re doing something wrong. I’ve worked in healthcare for two decades and would have lost my job if I behaved towards my patients that way.

Virginia tries very hard to be compassionate, however, she falls short of being authentic. She is quick to defend her decisions that aren't always in the patients best interests. I would like to have her see me as an individual instead of a what "should be" or what a text book tells her I should be.
