Biography: With more than 10 years of experience working with families and individuals, I have had the humbling experience of supporting clients through significant changes in their lives. These changes can come at the individual level such as physical and mental health abilities, the relationship level such as communication concerns or role expectations, or at the systemic level such as collaboration with medical teams and coordination of family and caregivers. It is a humbling experience because I recognize that I am being brought in often during one of the worst moments in someone's life. I do not take that lightly and I try to ensure that each client I work with feels safe and supported. In practice I have utilized varying therapeutic approaches and I work with the client to identify which approach best meets their needs. Truth be told, because not one size fits all, it is often a combination of multiple therapies. I have found that the most frequently used in my work are Narrative Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Solution-Based Approach, Mindfulness Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. The most common feedback I receive from those that I work with is that they feel I have a calming presence, a kindness that helps them to feel immediately comfortable, and the knowledge and expertise to truly help them achieve their goals. I understand the value in balancing the joys of life with the challenges of life , and I look forward to establishing this balance with you.

Biography: Often times we only see the version of others that they want us to see. Then we are left judging our insides based off of their outsides; believing ourselves to be "abnormal." The shame of feeling alone can lead us to shape shift; squeezing into fragmented versions of what we think we are supposed to be or feel. In our work together we can explore the "You" beyond your representative self and find ways to express the parts of yourself who want to be seen and known. I believe when we shut out our shadowy parts, we close the door on our light too. Through re-building a mind body connection, practicing self-compassion, embodying authenticity, building shame resilience, and remembering the feeling of alignment with our needs and values, we can begin to know ourselves again. And in turn, better connect to those around us. I individualize treatment to meet the needs of the person or couple in front of me. Whatever path we take together in the direction of your goals, you will lead the way, and I will walk beside you every step.

Biography: I am a licensed mental health counselor who has been practicing in Massachusetts for over 30 years, focusing on treatment for depression, anxiety, mood swings and adjustment issues. I have worked with individuals enduring unexpected losses and grief, respectfully working through this change and what their new life might look like. Much of therapy begins with understanding your own boundaries, strengths, skills and coping styles and I would work with you to learn more about these to establish a place where you're feeling better about yourself, interactions and decisions. My style includes quite a bit of listening but also with some challenges to your perspective and how else you might want to respond in a situation. I believe the whole person must be addressed and will consider how your health might be impacting your mood. Finally, aside from being a counselor I am a Christian and am available to discuss your presenting issues from a faith perspective. I look forward to hearing from you and discovering what awaits you in this time of change.

Talkspace treatment methods are supported by scientific research and are committed to non-judgmental care that is inclusive and respectful of cultural and other identities. Talkspace patients are matched with the best provider for them based on their needs and availability during the registration process. Once matched with a provider, patients may change at any time, and may contact support to request a specific provider. *The above is attributed to Talkspace and not the provider.*

Biography: At the start of 2022 I realized that through BetterHelp I could finally reach my goal to work private practice full - time. Through my career, I have primarily worked with adults in various settings, but in 2016 shifted my dedication to teenagers in the criminal justice system. I have Hospice experience which is where I gained my passion for grief and loss as well as dealing with phase of life changes. This hit home to me hard, in 2016 as I watched and cared for my mother who battled Ovarian Cancer. She passed away November 2019 and I took a step back from my private practice work and just focused on my healing as well as my work at the Juvenile Center. In August of 2020, I started back up with private practice and did this with BetterHelp. Once 2022 hit, I was ready to transition from working with teens in the juvenile justice system and the parents of juvenile delinquency, to taking a step with BetterHelp full time. I have experience with inpatient psychiatric care, crisis intervention, hospice, and chronic medical illness, as well as a wide range of mental health and relationship issues. I have a passion for helping people find peace of mind and strength to work on the challenges that they are facing.

Biography: [To save prospective clients from unnecessary consideration, I want to alert you that I am available for Short-term Therapy only, as I will be leaving the Better Help platform in Mid-August. If your sense is that you have an issue or concern that can be addressed over a period of a few months, then please read on. Otherwise, I am not able to be of use to you.] My work has focused on families, and I love helping clients work through areas of conflict, misunderstanding, stress, and anger and arriving at improved communication, and a more confident sense of self and appreciation of their own abilities to make change and solve problems that arise. As a home-based family therapist, I worked with a wide variety of clients and their issues. I became more of a "jack of all trades" than an expert in a particular method of therapy. For me, that has meant being responsive to and learning about many different issues clients face, and utilizing a variety of approaches. My strengths as a therapist are in my ability to listen, and to help uncover patterns of thought and behavior that have not worked well for clients, and to encourage them to try different approaches. A core belief of mine is that the client knows him/her/themself best, and has the capacity to problem solve. I don't "fix" people, I accompany them on their journey for a time, and offer support, guidance and insight as clients tell their stories. My role is to hold up a mirror and shed light on the dynamics and situations that clients bring into therapy. My approach is warm and direct. I appreciate the value of a sense of humor, while respecting the seriousness of client concerns. I am in my mid-seventies - a good euphemism for that is, "I'm a 'seasoned' clinician"! I went to social work school when my youngest child went to college. Prior to that I worked in a street ministry for urban homeless people; work that I loved, but also found grueling over time. As the parent of five children, and with a strong family life and focus, I found family work to be both a good fit and very rewarding. I have Certificates in Trauma-Informed Therapy, and in Drug and Alcohol Counseling. Attachment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing are other areas of interest and were part of my advanced studies. Recently, I co-facilitated a support group for four years, focused initially on the needs of in-home family caregivers dealing with the ill-health of a partner or aging parent, then shifting to coping with parental relationships with adult children suffering from mental illness and/or substance abuse that prevented them from functioning well in the wider world without ongoing parental support.

As a believer in Christ, I use the Word of God to bring hopes to the hopeless. My approach with clients is solution focused and goal oriented; I utilize an eclectic method to psychotherapy which incorporates cognitive behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, warm personal and unconditional positive regard interventions. I am fluent in English, French and Creole. I wake up every morning looking forward to sharing a message of hope by helping my clients address their co-occurring disorders to reach long term sobriety and serenity by developing healthy coping skills.

Biography: Throughout my counseling career, I have always been interested -- fascinated, in fact -- in finding meaning and value in the experiences of others, joyful and sorrowful, frightened or courageous, and in helping them to grow in their own lives. Although I am not rigid in my approach to therapy, I see myself as a Narrative Therapist (Dulwich Model), with a strong background in Gestalt Therapy for dream work and understanding polarities (contradictions) in our lives, Gendlin's Focusing for sifting through psychological uncertainty, and along with Focusing, a strong interest in mindfulness-based stress management as a support technique for personal growth.. I have worked as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts since 2012 (including my licensure training), and for many more years prior to that as an Associate Psychologist (Masters Level) in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. I also worked for several years as a Certified Alcoholism Counselor (CAC) in Massachusetts in both inpatient and outpatient settings with a strong 12-step orientation. I am myself a recovering alcoholic, with 40 years of continuous sobriety -- a day at a time! I have a particular interest in working with people living on the Autism Spectrum, both adults and younger folks. Like many who work in the field, I bring personal family experience to the work, and I take pride in my ability to find common ground with people living on or near the Spectrum. More generally, I have an abiding interest in working with military family members, including those who have long since left the life of being a Military Dependent. As a former Army Brat and "Third Culture Kid," (TCK) I bring particular awareness and concern to the life-long issues of those whose developmental years were spent "inside the Fortress, " as Mary Edwards Wertsch describes it, including those TCKs who grew up in cultures and countries overseas.
