Biography: Dr. Zachary Grinspan is the Interim Chief of Child Neurology and Director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Program at Weill Cornell Medicine and the NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital at Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics and in Population Health Sciences, and holds a Masters of Science in Biostatistics. He is also a Nanette Laitman Clinical Scholar at Weill Cornell Medicine.Dr. Grinspan received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at the Mass General Hospital for Children in Boston, a residency in child neurology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx in 2011. He then completed a post-doctoral research program in quality of care and clinical informatics at Weill Cornell Medicine, funded through the National Institutes of Health Neurologic Science Academic Development Award (NIH K12 NSADA). He is board certified in Pediatrics and Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology.A national leader in pediatric epilepsy research, he has more than 100 published research articles including collaborations with international experts across multiple disciplines (epilepsy, emergency medicine, critical care, health services research, informatics, biostatistics, machine learning, engineering, and economics). Biography: Dr. Asim Shahid is an associate professor of clinical pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Pediatric Neurologist/Epileptologist at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He will also serve as the division chief of pediatric neurology and epilepsy at NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital with the task of expanding the services provided by the division. Before joining the Brooklyn faculty, Asim served as division chief of pediatric neurology and epilepsy at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland Ohio. Asim obtained his medical degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Dominican Republic and completed his pediatric residency in Morristown, NJ before pursuing his pediatric neurology fellowship at Rainbow babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH. He then completed his epilepsy training at University Hospitals of Cleveland. Asim has worked as a pediatric epileptologist since 2009 treating patients with medically refractory epilepsies with special interest in patients with epileptic encephalopathies, tuberous sclerosis complex and those with surgically remediable epilepsies. Asim also has an interest in clinical trials for patients with medically refractory epilepsy. Asim believes in providing timely, high-quality care to all his patients and focuses on family centered model. Biography: Dr. Chiriboga is Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at CUIMC and former Interim Director of the Division of Child Neurology, Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is also former Chief of Pediatric Neurology at Columbia University's affiliate hospital, Harlem Hospital Center. Dr. Chiriboga was born in Peru and educated in Argentina, where she graduated with Honors from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Buenos Aires in 1982. Dr. Chiriboga completed training in pediatrics at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in 1985. After completing her training in child neurology in 1988 at the Neurological Institute and Babies Hospital of Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, Dr. Chiriboga joined the Division of Child Neurology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Subsequently, she completed a Neuroepidemiology fellowship at the Gertrude H. Sergievsky Center and received a Master in Public Health from the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Dr. Chiriboga serves/has served on committees of the NIH, CNS, and ABPN. She is a diplomate of the ABPN in Child Neurology. Dr. Chiriboga's current research focuses on Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) clinical trials. Past areas of research, including NIH funding, has focused on congenital infections and neurodevelopmental disorders, including cerebral palsy and effects of perinatal exposures. Her clinical practice focuses on neuromuscular disorders as well as developmental, neurobehavioral neurology, and migraine, and on the treatment of spasticity.
