Very poor treatment
I went in for a routine colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening. Braden Kuo performed the procedure. Kuo perforated my colon in the first 30 cm when he reached a tight turn. Instead of using less aggressive options to navigate the tight turn, Kuo just applied more force until he perforated my colon. Then, instead of trying to repair my colon he just pulled out the scope and dumped me in the ER for someone else to fix. While in the ER, I went through 7 hours of agonizing pain (to the point I was screaming and begging for pain meds) as the contaminated material in my bowels spread throughout my intraperitoneal cavity and caused significant peritonitis. I almost went septic and required emergency surgery which left me with a huge abdominal scar (from 25 staples) and a colostomy bag. I was hospitalized for 11 days. Kuo didn't bother to visit me until Day 6 following the procedure where he told me that given the same circumstances, he would not have changed a thing.

Dr. Kuo saved my life, and I am forever grateful. I had an exceptionally rare sudden serious illness where I was unable to swallow and had poor motility of processing food and liquids through my esophagus. I had hypersensitivity to smells and to anything that touched my throat. Dr. Kuo was the only doctor who spent a lot of time with me, figured out what was wrong and set up a treatment plan which helped me to recover and get my life back. After going through countless tests and appointments with other doctors in CT which left them stumped and gave me a misdiagnosis, I was desperate. Dr. Kuo is the most exceptional, caring, expert doctor I have ever experienced. He truly deals with the most seriously ill patients and goes above and beyond. I highly recommend Dr. Kuo if you want a doctor that will take your illness seriously and get you well. A+++++++++

Really hard to communicate and his treatment options failed me. His staff were rude and didn't pay attention to how medications affected me. Wasted my time with this doctor. Wish I had seen someone else from the beginning.

This man is lucky that I didn't file a malpractice claim against him. As it was, I filed a complaint with the Chief of his department. I was referred for an endoscopy after months of vomiting and weight loss and was assigned to Dr. Kuo. Following the procedure, his office called to tell me he had ordered more tests - no explanation, no discussion with him, even though I asked to speak with him. After 2 uncomfortable and long tests, I was able to see him several months after the endoscopy. Actually, I saw his Physician's Assistant who finally took a history and discussed my problem. I then saw Dr. Kuo for a few minutes - he didn't look at me or listen to me. His diagnosis was in alignment with his research interests and he prescribed medication that was totally unsuitable and ordered yet another test. My GYN saw me and immediately hypothesized that my thyroid medication needed to be adjusted. Once that was tested and adjusted, things were fine.

Been seeing this doctor and his nurse practioner Samathan Ann Calabrese for 6 months now. They do not respond well when I ask for other treatment options or pay attention to my concerns. They really just treated me like I know nothing and do not even listen to my concerns. I wish I look the reviews seriously. Now I have wasted a year and could have probably found a better doctor that really cares about their patients.

There is a long wait to get in to see Dr Kuo. His staff is extremely attentive, polite, thorough and demonstrated excellent bedside manner. Dr Kuo however left me unimpressed. He came off as judgmental, impersonal and disrespectful and he was running over an hour behind schedule. The real appeal is that he is leading a study on cyclic vomiting syndrome, which I have suffered with for almost three decades without anyone ever offering a treatment plan. If Dr Kuo can give me answers and change my life for the better, I can forgive his social ineptitude. I’ve had some physicians over the years who I absolutely adored that couldn’t really help me find any solutions to my suffering...so I suppose sometimes you have to relinquish one quality for another as doctors are merely human beings, flaws and all.

I waited almost three hours for my colonoscopy. Dr Kuo left the endoscopy suite and never checked his patient list. He may be important but as a physician myself I am shocked by the total disregard for patients.

Dr. Kuo is aloof and impersonal. He never remembers my name and just does a cursory hello. My last colonoscopy with him was OK but he reported some misinformation about my anesthesia. On the other hand, his staff is excellent and they are the real health practitioners once a diagnosis has been made and you are under care, however I question his diagnosis without enough tests.

He has a horrible bedside manner. He even ordered concert tickets while I was having my endoscopy. His nurse is the only reason we stay with him.

First visit with Dr Kuo he's amazing but then he's so busy doing other things you hardly ever see him. Also i recently had a procedure he introduced himself like our first meeting him , I smiled and responded I'm your Gastroparesis girl - his response was I see a lot of you you're not special. Seriously taken back by his comment thought was so rude
