Unexpected Finding
I was referred to UNC Spine for back problems and the hope to not end up in wheelchair. During the visit the doctor had concern with my cervical and thoracic spine. Preliminary test has revealed my thoracic spine okay, but my cervical spine may be collapsed. Needless to say, my back is concerning but the cervical has to be addressed first. I do not know what will become of me but know if I had not been sent to UNC Spine, I may not have had the chance to a future.

Excellent surgical experience
Excellent treatment pre- and post-surgery, as well as during both surgeries.Specifically, Dr. W listened to my questions and responded fully. I understood my options and post operative recovery and outcomes. This was a surgery that was inevitable (related to back issues stemming back to my teens), though I had been able to delay it and to maintain an active lifestyle.I consider myself very lucky to have connected with Dr. W when it became obvious that it was time to have the surgery. I know I could not have been in better hands. I ran an 8K race only a few weeks before my surgery and just today (3 months post surgery) I ran my first post-surgery race, a Pi-K race (1.9) miles.Dr. W gave me a 'no restrictions' notation in my most recent post-op appt, less than a week ago. Just in time for the race :)

Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Weinberg
Dr. Weinberg did not jump to surgery, he carefully watched my spine and bone health (I was being treated for osteoporosis) before I underwent a significant spine surgery. I have gained an inch back in height, my vertebrae are healing and I no longer have any pain. Prior to surgery he was always available and even surprised me with a long phone call -- he had to call back 4 times due to Verizon dropping the calls. A year and a half later now I had my last post-surgery visit but he assured me that he was available at any time should the need arise. I could not have had a finer, more caring surgeon than Dr. Weinberg.

He listened.
My visit went very well. Seen on time. Polite staff. Dr. Weinberg has a good reputation as an excellent spine surgeon. I was impressed that he listened and set up a treatment program rather than leap to surgery. Surgery may be needed but only after a non-operative program failed.

Very helpful
My appointment with Dr. Weinberg was very good. He explained what was going on with my spine, had more x-rays and a ct scan done while I was there - they happened quickly so I did not wait long - and made a helpful referral.

Thanks Dr. Weinberg!
I have seen many physicians throughout the years. Dr. Weinberg is an exceptional one that has stood out. I can recall his welcoming smile and warm handshake, which were key indicators of how well my visit would go. In addition, he took his time to provide insight to my condition based upon essential test results. Very thorough and precise, he made it easier to understand and what I needed to do next. I appreciated his professionalism and the amount of care I received.

Excellent Surgeon Fusion C5-6
Dr. Weinberg is an excellent surgeon, and the entire staff are incredible. I originally was going to have surgery at WVU, but there were a number of variables that did not sit well with me at the time. One being my connection and experience with the surgeon at WVU. I opted to push the surgery off given my age at the time (31) and wanting better quality health care. Fast forward to December 2023, I found Dr. Weinberg and the team at UNC. Made a great connection and elected to fuse my C5-6. Very happy with the results.

Orthopedic Surgery - ALIF Spine Fusion L4 to S1
I am a 52 year old male with lower back pain and right leg numbness with a C curved spine. I have exercised regularly since my early 20s, had massage therapy for many years, physical therapy, and recently epidurals. These did not offer a solution to my pain and currently I am 3 weeks post operation, having an ALIF Spine fusion L4 to S1. Dr. Weinberg’s team encouraged all the conservative options first. Once those were completed Dr. Weinberg talked with me at length before offering the spine fusion surgery option. He put all the options in front of me so that I could make good decisions. Before the surgery I read every review, every back book I could get my hands on and even had a second opinion. The surgery has been a life changing event, and it is all for the better. Knowing what I know now I would do the surgery again. It is rare we come across people that can make such a quality-of-life difference. Dr. Weinberg and his team have done this for me.

Excellent spine surgeon
Excellent bedside manner, excellent surgeon. I would not want any other surgeon. I have had two expert surgeries completed by Dr. Weinberg and am very thankful for my improved function! It is very clear that the negative review is from a patient who wants pain medication, and not a solution. Spine pain is complex and cannot always be solved with surgery. However, if surgery is indicated, than Dr. Weinberg is the person to do it!
