Do not Recommend
Did a 3-5 minute cursory exam for spinal issue. Made steroid injection treatment recommendation. I said I had a few questions. After quickly answering 3 of my questions (I had 2 more), he said he had to go see other patients and left the room. Total appt time was approx 10 minutes. I would never allow him to treat me as I would be concerned not only about accuracy and efficacy of diagnosis but also wonder if he was going to rush through the procedure just like the appt. There are many providers out there who deal with spinal issues, so I suggest you use someone else. This review is not intended to be harsh. Just sharing my experience.

Highly NOT recommended
He did a bad job on my procedure, did NOT admit to it, gave me no remedy or to retry the procedure (not that I would let him) and I had an MRI and another Dr confirm the he failed. You've been warned.

Dr Lairson was a good listener, and was able to figure out the real issue after having seen several other doctors. He got me in promptly and I had an MRI the following day! Now I go for an ESI to my back.

Did not think his original diagnosis was accurate.
Too quick to diagnose my concern, leading me to not trust him. He showed me a recent x-ray but it was on his cell phone, way too small for me to understand why he might be showing this to me.

Wonderful Bedside Manner
The doctor kept a conversation going with me while the test was being performed. This kept me distracted from the uncomfortable parts of the procedure. . Very much appreciated his sense of humor.

Gave me Hope
He was aware of the results of my MRI and current health condition. Able to evaluate my physical status by examining my nerve function and pain level. Used the spinal model to show the severity of the painful narrowing and compression of the lumbar region Knows what is needed and gave me hope.

Dr. Lairson developed a plan for my pain relief
Dr Lairson not only listens, he really cares about being able to provide pain relief for my arthritic neck. He has given me tremendous relief with trigger point injections in the past, when fibromyalgia has created painful knots on muscles

Great Experience
The first thing he said was “do you go by Katy or Kathleen”? I’ve NEVER had a doctor ask me that. I was immediately at ease. He listened to everything I had to say with a couple questions. Discussed my treatment plan and made sure I understood it. He was very clear. I would go back to him in a heartbeat and will recommend him.

Totally left in the dark
Saw Dr Lairson after a fall. My first visit with him was fine. I was then sent off for an MRI. After I received my diagnosis, I was given next to no information regarding next steps, prognosis, or expected recovery time. I returned a few weeks later as I was experiencing pain in a part of my back separate from the injury. He almost seemed annoyed that I was there. I did not get any answers or advice and all I was told is that it was "probably due to inflammation". He never advised me to schedule any follow-up appointments to check in on my recovery and make sure I was healing properly.

Initial Back Pain and Sciatica Evaluation
This was my first visit to Dr. Lairson, after several years of treatment through the Kaiser Health System. Dr. Lairson was very compassionate, in his approach. He has determined that I need a new MRI to try to determine what is really going on in my back. Kaiser was treating me for lower back facet joint arthritis, but, my circumstances may have changed or deteriorated, thus we need additional information before he proceeds to treat me, rather than just proceeding with the type of treatments I was being given by Kaiser. I feel confident that Dr. Lairson will come up with a good, effective treatment plan!
