Terrible surgeon and doctor all around. Completely messed up my knee and made it far worse than it was, and then had the audacity to recommend he perform the second surgery. This was after lying and saying everything was perfect and arguing with me. Avoid at all costs!!

saved my arm
I literally thought my arm was going to be cut off. It was smashed from wrist to upper arm -- into bits. I was advised by Dr. Johnson's colleagues to wait for three weeks for him to return from vacation to have the surgery. Just think about that. They patched everything together and cleaned it up and advised me to wait. What he did for me was nothing short of miraculous. That was 22 years ago and although, no, my arm is not exactly the same as one which has not been damaged, I have excellent use of it and *perfect* use of my hand and wrist and all the nerves in tact. Now I have a shoulder problem and I am traveling to LA from Chicago to have him look at it, praying he will take the case. I know for a fact that he is highly admired by his colleagues and on the occasion that other doctors have looked at his work on my arm their admiration is obvious.

This guy is awful
Saw him at UCLA for shoulder injury follow up. He was rude, wouldn't listen or answer my questions. Would not go to him for any reason

Dr. Eric Johnson, UCLA, Best of the Best!
It has almost been sixteen years to date that I was involved in a pedestrian auto trauma accident and I was blessed and fortunate to have Dr. Eric Johnson on call that evening. I am walking today due to the amazing work that Dr. Johnson did and still does today. I thank him each and every time I see him in the Hospital as I am a volunteer. I have recommended Dr. Johnson to many people and everyone sings his praises like I do daily! Thank you Dr. Johnson.

Dr. Johnson is AMAZING!!!
I cannot recommend Dr. Johnson enough. He is absolutely wonderful. I came to him (highly recommended by another doctor) and I am so grateful to him and his staff. He is professional, caring, and a great surgeon. I was terrified not only about my injury and the outcome but of surgery. He made me feel so comfortable, took the time to answer my questions, and reassured me that he would do his best. And he really did!!!! My surgery went smoothly as planned and here I am 15 weeks post op and I can walk again normally. Dr. Johnson is truly astonishing and cared for me like no other has. Thank you Dr. Johnson from the bottom of my heart.

He has horrible bedside manner, and is not communicating with his patients. He is willing to forgo dealing with a healing process in lieu of surgery later on. He has to be corrected in basic info in the file and pescibes pain meds and surgery to elderly when not neccessary. Get a second opinion, if you care about the quality of your healthcare.

He may be a very good surgeon; however, I would not recommend him to anyone due to his horrible bedside manner. Perhaps he was having a bad day when I saw him for a fracture, but there is no excuse for his behavior. He shouts and is condescending, this in view and earshot of other patients and doctors. No amount of surgical skill is worth being treated this way; there are other great orthopedists.

Dr. Johnson performed my right total hip replacement. I am so blessed to have found him. My surgery and recovery was excellent. I'm doing very well and very happy with the outcome. He is very professional, kind and patient. His assistant is also wonderful.
