Dr. Gary Lehr, MD

Let me start off by saying you should watch youtube videos of people who have had the hernia surgery so that you understand what to expect. My surgery went as expected. I had the robotic hernia surgery on lower right and left abdomen hernias with mesh repair. The first couple days are the worst that you will deal with after a hernia repair. I was able to work at my desk within a couple days. Slept on my back for about a week and stayed on the pain meds. After a week I was able to get around ok, I was just very careful bending, getting up and down, etc. The pain eased each day and no pain meds after 1 week, just ibuprofen. Three entry holes are required for the robotic surgery, they were closed very cleanly without stitch marks. Within two weeks I was walking around fine and able to do normally non-physical activities. Now at one month I am probably 90% back to normal but will still limit lifting and physical activities for a while longer as recommended by the doctor. Would recommend.

I had a nagging hernia for over 2 years until I received a referral from my hip surgeon to make an appointment with Dr. Lehr. I am very happy with the great care from the first office visit, surgery & the follow up visit with Dr. Lehr & his staff gave me. I am back to my life & full routine in under 3 weeks.

Doctor and Surgeon Gary Lehr is an Excellent Professional, Surgeon, Doctor and Human Being. He treated and operated on my Father for a Hernia that left him without energy. My Father was sick, and Doctor Gary Lehr gave my father back his desire to eat, his energy, his spirit, and above all, he freed him from a pain that no longer allowed him to be himself. If one day I myself or anyone else I know needs a good Surgeon in this specialty without hesitation I will go see Doctor Gary Lehr wherever I am and I will also recommend him to anyone who needs him. All I can say is that Dr. Lehr and his staff especially, Odie were wonderful! My surgery went well and I had a good recovery. Feeling good and happy I got out my gallbladder. Haven’t had a problem since. I would highly recommend Dr. Lehr as a General Surgeon.

I was recently admitted to the ER where Lehr was the on call surgeon. I had a very acute gallbladder attack and his residents and imaging confirmed it needed to come out right away. His residents told me Lehr would be doing the surgery. When he finally came around to visit me in the hospital 12 hours later, he was very short with me, cut me off when I was telling him my medical history and proceeded to tell me he wouldn’t be doing the surgery and that his partner would be doing it but probably not for two days. I was quite shocked when I found out his partner was 2 years out of school. I told the hospital I wanted someone with more experience. Over the next 24 hours Lehr’s resident visited me about 4 times to essentially convince me to check myself out of the hospital because they are the on call and nothing they can do. I ended up having to do just that, went to a different hospital and had my surgery professionally taken care of. I do not recommend Lehr or his team.

Dr. Lehr was an outstanding surgeon throughout the entire process. He communicated all of the details of the procedure prior to the surgery and made me feel comfortable on the day of the surgery. The surgery was a great success and I feel great thanks to Dr. Lehr!!

After interviewing several surgeons for my inguinal surgery and walking away I had the good fortune of finding Dr. Lehr ! It was easy for me to choose my surgeon! Dr. Lehr was most attentive to my medical issue and inspired full confidence apart from being friendly, My surgery went well and I am optimistic about a full recovery. His office is well administered. His assistant “Val” was very helpful and his surgical coordinator “Odie” as well. My phone calls were always returned expeditiously and everyone was pleasant and friendly which is important in a medical professional’s office! After my surgery Dr. Lehr was kind and called my wife to report I was fine after surgery. I highyl recommend Dr. Lehr without any reservations.

Dr. Lehr removed an ulcer along with 1/2 of my stomach and a portion of my intestine. I was in the hospital for over 30 days after the ambulance brought me in stroking out. I thank God I had a doctor with the skills and experience of Dr. Lehr and his team. God Bless

I was suffering from gallstones and had to be admitted to West Boca hospital. Dr. Lehr did my Cholecystectomy just 9 days ago and I’m recovering very well with no complications. Not to mention he was kind, professional, and answered all my concerns regarding my surgery and recovery. Thank you Dr. Lehr for changing my life!

Staff was great. Courteous, efficient and friendly. Dr. Lehr spends time with you and listens to your concerns without interruption. Have not moved forward with surgery as of yet.
