Arrogant
Was recommended to see Dr. Smith by another ENT for recurring strep after tonsillectomy and adenoid removal. Dr. Smith never introduced himself, was very arrogant, and basically said there was nothing he could do and told my son to keep his fingers out of his mouth. There’s a reason he was recommended to us yet he didn’t want to hear it. Told me to have my son gargle with salt and water three times a day forever. Thanks for wasting my time and having no bedside manner.

Elizabeth Petit Frere, Saved my life when I was 13
Hi my name is Elizabeth Petit Frere and when I was 13 years old I went to my pediatrician and I was told by my pediatrician that I had Asthma. One night when I was sleeping, I could barely breathe. I rushed to my local hospital and they couldn’t perform the surgery I needed. So i was rushed to LIJ Cohen Children Medical Center and that’s when I met Dr Smith and he diagnosed me with a tumor in my throat. He performed a 9 hour emergency surgery on me and literally saved my life.. I’m much older now and because i was so young I never realized what he’s done for me. So super grateful for him, my airway was 90% closed… Best Dr ever and forever grateful. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and till this day when I sit around my family and we say what we’re grateful for, I always mention Dr.Smith. My family and I love you and we thank you so much for what you’ve for me.If you didn’t get the message, I 100% recommend him!

Disaster. Rude. Stay Away
Saw Dr. Smith 2x with my infant He was kind and courteous. Called to get my daughter an appointment as she has had 15 ear infections over the past 7 months, the current infection has not cleared up since March with 6 antibiotics, now she developed allergies to those antibiotics and we are out of options . Pedestrian said she needs to be seen.. The staff who answered the phone was rude and dismissive. Offered me an appointment in July. I said we cant wait per the pediatrician can I see another doctor in the practice? . She said no... we don't share patients- now you lost a patient. Pulled my daughters file, found another DR who SQUEEZED her in that day and said her infection is so bad she is on the verge of hospitalization. The receptionist had the nerve to tell me do you know how many hysterical parents call for kids ear infections? They aren't an emergency. I even asked if my doctor called would that change anything, she told me no. Would never step back there even if they paid me.

If I could give him NEGATIVE 10 stars I would. I took off from work to take my 2 yr old son to visit him. The front staff botched my son's name in Allscripts and after the initial eval said to wait outside to allow others to go ahead of us. This, in spite of the over 21 pages of releases, az & forms I had to fill out. They directed us to exam rm 3 where a child was crying inconsolably, and I wondered why we were told to go there. They realized the mix up and sent us to another room. Dr. Smith showed up without any greeting, told me to keep my son's hands off his equipment, sat behind a computer and desk to ask the same questions repeatedly. He was aloof, rude and had zero bed-side manner. He asked what's your son's name and went through the same questions again. Rather than enunciate my son's name, he moved on. I asked him what was the plan. He said he was too busy and would call me. I told him I made an appt. and am entitled to know. He said he did not have time to speak

Our son was born with Congenital Nasal Pyriform Aperture Stenosis. Dr. Smith tried to avoid surgery and gave us support when our son's respiratory distress was managed medically. When that no longer worked, Dr. Smith performed the life-saving surgery that enlarged our 1 month old's airway. Dr. Smith is very down-to-earth and was always available by phone or email, before and long after the surgery, to answer questions and ensure we're comfortable in caring for our son. Highly recommended!

A clinic.Came rec. by pediatrician & was touted as "Chief of the Division",it all doesn't matter if he's arrogant/dismissive and failed to examine my son. My pediatrician made the appt she felt he needed to be seen that day-his tonsils were extremely enlarged due to mono. Can't count the # of times he said "I don't treat mono", "I don't know & I don't know where you would go" or "How did you get an appt so quick?". We followed up w a reputable ENT who prescribed 2 meds w a thoro exam.

Watch out for Dr. Smith! He charges massive fees for basic services. He charged us over $700 for a 10 minute visit with no procedures or tests. When our insurance wouldn't cover the cost he sent a collections agency after us. His office gave us the runaround for months and was totally unhelpful. We would never recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Smith was so highly recommended to us during a stressful and difficult time during which my 15 month old son had to have a mass removed from his ear. Dr. Smith was very proactive, honest, direct and clear in his plans and it is rare that I feel so respected when dealing with doctors! He performed my sons surgery so quickly and his ear looks fantastic barely 24 hours later. I can't recommend dr. Smith enough!!!

We saw Dr. Smith because our 2 yr old drooled a lot and couldn't swallow without gagging. He performed a scope and when it came back normal he was very dismissive and said our son would outgrow the issues. 4 years later our son is no better. This week we found out he has a congenital brain condition called a Chiari malformation that has been impeding his ability to swallow since birth. How come this top ENT never raised the possibility of a neurological issue? We are truly astonished.

Dr Lee Smith is the most awesomest of all Drs. Ever. He is sweet, caring, and funny. Best of all he is amazing at what he does. My family was very lucky to have him. Son was diagnosed with ADHD...By chance we took him here. Now, I have a changed boy who is listening, eating and talking more than he has ever had before. I am so grateful to Dr. Smith. He truly is the best in the world at what he does, and we are so blessed he is only a close drive away. Go if you can get an appt.

Dr. Smith is an amazing doctor! He was able to diagnose my son when no one could figure out what was wrong, and he took the appropriate measures to correct the issue. However, his bedside manner leaves much to be desired. He is pretty curt, and he doesn't say things in a sensitve way. I do recommend him, because he clearly knows his field and he is cautious and doesn't jump into things, but just be prepared that he isn't a warm and fuzzy kind of doctor.
