I normally don’t leave reviews but I had such a bad experience with Dr. Cunningham that I’ve decided to say something. She has to have the worst bedside manner of ANY doctor I’ve ever met!! I’m so glad she left TBJ because I was forced into finding another Rheumatologist. I’m only 49 and because RA is new for me, my very first visit to her couldn’t have been worse. I was an emotional wreck because I’ve never experienced anything like this before and I asked her specific questions about the RA and related health questions to RA such as Prednisone that I had been taking to release pain. She told me that I could ask those to my primary care physician. I asked her again, because her answer so rude, that I felt that I obviously didn’t word it correctly. I asked her again the same question but on a different way to make sure she understood me. She replied with the same answer. I asked why she couldn’t’ tell me because “she was the rheumatologist”. She told me that she didn’t have the time. Your doctor should never give the impression that you, the patient do not matter….. I’ve never met such a rude, crass and uncaring doctor as herself and im so glad she’s no longer going to be treating me.

Denied my mother for having necessary surgery.
My mother has auto immune and gets an infusion through Dr. Cunningham when she was at Tulsa bone and joint. Now that she moved, she denied my mother because she had to miss a few appointments for necessary surgeries (of which her office was notified in advance.) As well, Tulsa bone and joint is no longer taking any of Cunningham’s denied patients because they are coming in large crowds. Now my mother is suffering in pain when all she needed was an appointment once or twice a year to have the infusion treatment referred to our local hospital where they could be done routinely. We are now looking at six hour round trips just for medically necessary treatment.

Could not ask for a better Doctor
I have been seeing Dr. Cunningham for 4 years. From the beginning she has been caring, compassionate and professional. She listens to what I have to say, asks pertinent questions and listens to my answers and she takes the time to answer all of my questions so that I understand her answers without being patronizing or condescending. Dr. Cunningham is always friendly, upbeat and is interested in me as a person not just as a patient. I cannot imagine a better person or a better Doctor.

Bad experience
I saw Dr Cunningham for several years. She refused to look at my results from another world class clinic. She laughed at me when I asked questions and generally was rude. I would have changed sooner but it is difficult to find a rheumatologist in Tulsa.

After a bout of uveitis, Achilles tendinitis, years of back and neck pain, HLA-b27+, arthritis in my back and hips and a host of other issues, I was referred to Dr. Cunningham in Sept. 2020. Because my ESR and CRP were not elevated at the time, she dismissed my likely spondyloarthropathy and refused to do MRIs. She told me “If your Achilles tendinitis or worsening issues appear, come back and see me”. Worsening issues prompted me to make another appointment in June 2021. About a week before the appointment I got a call from her staff asking why I wanted to see her. After explaining the new developments they relayed the message and called me back saying, “Dr. Cunningham is cancelling your appointment and won’t see you. She said she has already ruled out any rheumatological issues and there is nothing she can do for you.” A week later I had tests back from a new doctor showing elevated CRP, RF, and other abnormalities. ?? Find a doctor who truly cares to help you. It isn’t Cunningham.

Just saw Dr Cunningham for the first time as a new patient and it was a horrible experience. She accused me of being too overly protective and sensitive to my back pain due to a crushed T12 injury - wouldn't listen to me during pain/sensitivity test when I told to go easy, said my reactions were 'over the top' that it wasn't inline with reality and that the pain was all in my head. She'd ask me questions but if I didn't follow some script that she felt I should or shouldn't say, then she was very dismissive of anything I did say. She was very condescending, rude and talked down to me. Made me feel that it was all about her. I would prefer to give her a zero star rating.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Cunningham for around 18 months now due to lupus. I was initially nervous to see a new rheumatologist because my previous one didn’t properly manage my disease, leading to it becoming much more severe. However, upon meeting Dr. Cunningham I realized I had been worried for nothing. She is the most thorough doctor I’ve ever seen, which is saying something. I was also extremely impressed when she caught a dangerous problem with the immunosuppressant I was on at the time. She and her staff are always very prompt and kind, which is nice when you’re dealing with chronic health issues. I would recommend Dr. Cunningham to everyone!

I saw her twice. It is hard to get her to listen but once you succeed she seems to do well. Other than that she was fine for my medication management.

I seen Dr. C as a new patient. During the visit I explained to her why I was there. She not only interrupted me serval times but at one point laughed at me bc I said that I thought 2 of my symptoms were somehow triggered by one another. Also, during my visit I told her I'd like her to do tests that day and her response to me was "My tests don't mean anything. My husband laughs at me all the time because I tell him my tests don't mean anything".At that moment I knew I didn't want her as a doctor.

My initial experience with Dr C was A+. Then, I had a bad reaction to meds she prescribed....I called (on a Friday) - her nurse left msg saying "Dr C says it's not the Rx, go see a primary care physician, I'll call you on Monday." WHAT? I KNEW it was the RA med. I stopped the med. The horrid symptoms ceased. No one called on Monday. No one ever called. Another doctor encouraged me to try Dr C again. The receptionist was so defensive I left livid. Huge disappointment. Had had high hopes. Big UGH.

Poor follow through after having a referral from primary doctor. She actually prescribed medication that conflicted with a previously prescribed medicine and failed to mention to stop taking the other medication. This caused a hospitalization, mind you. Her answers to questions are also poor. I’ve received more information from a hospital residency physician than I did from her.
