Dr. Michelle Nguyen, MD

I want to start this off by saying that Michelle Nguyen is truly an angel and is one of the best doctors who has helped me. She is beyond nice, patient, and good at explaining any concerns you have. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for helping me with my problem. I struggled with a chalazion on my eye for over a year. Although at the start of 2024, around February, it started getting red and noticeable to the point that I didn't leave my house except for emergencies or to talk to family members. I then planned to have it removed and went to my primary healthcare doctor, who prescribed me eye drops and liquid steroid medication. I took that for about a month, along with warm compresses every day, but saw no improvement. I then visited them again and was referred to my eye doctor, who told me to continue doing more warm compresses and to clean around my eyes. If that didn't work, he would refer me for surgery. Another month passed, and I got nowhere, so I called my eye doctor and asked to schedule surgery for my chalazion. He then referred me to a surgeon, and I had to wait another three months to get the surgery. When I arrived at the place I was referred to for surgery, my dad and I had to wait five hours before finally seeing the main doctor who was going to perform the surgery. Just for her to say that she was unable to do the surgery because she had ran out of time and could not do the procedure. She then prescribed me some pills and ointment, saying it would fix the chalazion without surgery. I felt disappointed knowing that I had to keep this chalazion on my eye for a longer time. However, I tried the medication she gave me, which I had to take every day for a month. Fast forward a month later, and my eye is still the same. I then go to my eye doctor again and ask to be scheduled for another doctor. A few days pass and this doctor who i got scheduled to calls me and said I'm probably not treating it correctly and need to clean it more. I then gave up on that place and my eye doctor and looked up a plastic surgeon, and found Michelle Nguyen. I was then scheduled today and went in for a visit, where I was treated amazingly by everyone. I was then taken into a room to explain everything, and was then asked if I would like to have surgery while I was there. I agreed, and about 5 minutes later, I was transferred to another room where Michelle Nguyen explained the surgery and finally took care of the chalazion I had on my eye for over a year. The surgery was more relaxing than horrifying, with me being told to take deep breaths while they were doing the surgery, which did not take long at all. After I was done, they told me how long it would take to heal and sent me off. As I said in the beginning of this review Michelle Nguyen is one of the very few doctors that I truly respect and was the only doctor After a whole year, that finally got my chalazion removed.

I received a call the morning of my surgery telling me I needed to pay an additional $4K for services. I had been requesting information on payment for over six weeks. I was in the holding room of the surgical suite with an IV IN MY ARM and Michelle comes in and tells me she is not going to do my surgery. She never asked me any questions about MY goals, MY needs or anything related to me as the patient and then told me I had unreasonable expectations. I had already paid for the surgery. My husband and I both had to take off work, so we lost time and money due to the unprofessionalism of this provider and surgical center in addition to everything else. I am extremely grateful that she canceled that surgery. I went to the Eye Centers of TN in Crossville, TN and it was an amazingly professional experience. I do believe part of this was a process problem, but this providers inability to have a professional conversation is concerning. Proceed with caution.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Michelle Nguyen. She listened intently to my concerns, she explained the procedure and details of what she was going to do and what to expect. I am a radiologist and my vision is my career. Her surgical skills and talent are appreciated. I had an excellent result.

I was scheduled to see the doctor for the treatment of thyroid eye disease. She was not only not knowledgeable about the condition but proceeded to treat me in spite of that. She caused me to have permanent damage by failing to treat me appropriately. Her partner gave me printouts of the treatment for the condition which included an MRI to help diagnose the severity and damage of the disease. I asked her to provide an order for the MRI and she refused stating I did not need it. The entire course of her care consisted of nothing that was provided to me in the literature given or in the research I found online.
