I waited over an hour past my appointment time to see the doctor. His bedside manner was good, his assistant did a great job with shots but his office staff is nonexistent. I’ve called, always get a machine, always leave the info they request & my question. THEY. DO. NOT. CALL. BACK. EVER. I can’t recommend him because it doesn’t matter how good he is if you can’t get help. Learn to live with your pain because no one in that office cares.

Best Orthopedic Specialist in NO VA
Dr. Akhtar is an exceedingly competent and caring surgeon. His technical skills and expertise are phenomenal!! I highly recommend him and his practice for any orthopedic healthcare needs. I recently underwent bilateral total hip replacements. What an incredible blessing to walk again without pain for the first time in 10 years! All thanks to Dr. Akhtar and his caring and professional staff.

This is a horrible practice. No one should go here. More than a week after I was sent for an MRI I still have not gotten a call to tell me what the results are. I am told by his assistant Julie that it's been sitting on his desk waiting for him to read the results. This is totally unacceptable. There has to be a standard of care. I was informed at the MRI location that they would get the results same day since they knew the importance. I really do not know who regulates these Drs. If your practice becomes too busy to handle new patients then stop taking them. I am really disappointed because he seemed like a nice man. This is really shameful.

This doctor did not know what to do with his failed knee replacement on me, so the day my husband did not go with me he laughed at me and told me that it was all in my head.

Kept waiting for over 45 mins to be greeted by a doctor who disputed the MRI report and did not show any concern for why I was there and the amount of excruciating pain I am in on a daily basis. By the way, he spent maybe 5 - 10 minutes with me.

I drove and hour to meet Dr. Akhtar for the first time. I had a 2:00 appointment, got there at 1:30 to fill our paperwork. At 2:20 (already late) I was taken back to an exam room. Met with asst to get height weight basic vitals. At 3:10 I got up and walked out. Assistant said the doctor was running behind. Another hour back home, so I wasted close to 4 hours. I thought I'd wait till the next day to see if I wanted to re-schedule . . or at least get an apology. HAVE HEARD A WORD SINCE

I've had both a partial and full knee replacements with Dr Akhtar. He is the best. He is personable as well as an excellent and caring surgeon. His office staff is friendly and kind. He was recommended to me by another orthopedic surgeon ( who does sports medicine not replacements). It says a lot to be highly recommended by your peers.

The process of securing an appointment was seamless. The staff was knowledgeable, gracious and helpful. There was 0 waiting time. The nurse introduced herself, arranged x-rays and took me to X-ray. The x-ray tech made me comfortable. Dr. Akhtar was all a patient could hope for. He was concerned for my health. He explained my situation and showed me the x-rays. He gave me clear options and explained potential outcomes and worked with me on the options. The BEST EVER EXPERIENCE.

Did a right knee replacement after gel injections stopped working Small scar and great after care. Year later Dr. Akhtar did a left hip revision on a 20 year old hip replacement. Both times he was there to comfort me and listened to my fears and worries. Everyone needing orthopaedic surgery should see Dr. Akhtar.

Had SLAP tear, rotator cuff tear, arthritis, bone spurs. All fixed in one surgery. going through PT now. Minimal pain following surgery, Dr. Akhtar was very thorough in hi explanations of the injuries and the procedures required to fix them. Was always willing to spend time answering questions - both pre and post-op.

Dr. Akhtar is an incredibly skilled surgeon that helped me get my life back with an OUTPATIENT knee replacement. I came to see him after a colleague at work had an outpatient hip replacement. I was shocked at how smooth the process was and how much time the staff and the doctor spent with me during the entire process. Go see Dr. Akhtar for state of the art surgery and incredible care/bedside manner!
