Doesn't listen
Didn't listen to me at all. Totally condescending. It was one of my worst ever doctor experiences.

Full of himself and not helpful
He rushed the visit, started touching me without asking for consent and then when I informed him I wouldn’t be there regularly due to a high co-pay he responded with “do you know how long I went to school? That’s what you are paying for.” Completely condescending attitude and didn’t listen to a word I had to say. Horrible bedside manner and full of himself, I would never see him or recommend him to another patient. Honestly, he should be ashamed of himself.

Rushed visits, missed diagnosing basal cell 2x
Lack of thoroughness in examinations. Missed diagnosing basal cell carcinoma at two visits, despite my verbal concerns that lesion was in the same area as two previous mohs surgeries for basal cell. Never used a magnifying glass, took no pictures for future comparison.

Condescending, left in tears.
Rude receptionist. At least 2 others checked in for the same dr at the same time, patient time is important too. Waited 30 min past appointment, only to be brought to tears in the first few minutes of meeting him. No bedside manner and does not know how to talk to women. I was already fragile about my appearance and was made to feel worse. I paid a high copay to get referred to a allergist, humiliated and spoken to condescendingly. I will never return.

I took my daughter in as a new patient today and have never met a more arrogant and condescending dr in my entire life. As if acne is not hard enough he told her that she will be battling acne her entire life and studies show that no employer wants to hire anyone with acne so she better make a commitment to get it under control. She has battled acne since she was 14 and is now 19 so it has always been a struggle. Also, as she was speaking she used the word “ like” and he rudely said “you’re in college not you should not be saying the work like”. His only treatment recommendation was Accutane and when she said she didn’t want to take that but would be willing to do other things he was condescending and said you have to make a commitment if you want your acne to clear up. Talk about kicking someone when they’re down. I will take her and my money elsewhere.

Dr. McElgunn and staff have always taken great care of me. However, when I sent my 84-year old dad to them for his psoriasis, the care level increased exponentially. The personal attention and individualized care he received was unparalleled. Dr. McElgunn arranged for his staff to go the extra mile to be sure my dad applied his medication correctly each week. Without this level of care, my dad's last months would have been more painful. I am forever grateful.

I am very satisfied with my experience. I saw a different dermatologist for months who was unable to diagnose my condition, and after my first appointment with McElgunn had answers. He has been very thorough and has made me feel very confident in my treatment and outcome. I am very thankful to have found him.
