I am so grateful to Co-Surgeons: Rebecca Burr, MD and Brad L. Penenberg, MD; Christopher Worgul, MD and Michelle Riley, PA-C of Cedars Sinai, for fixing my 2nd failed right total hip arthroplasty with significant leg length discrepancy. The 7 hour surgery included: Complex reconstruction of 2nd revision of right total hip arthroplasty with placement of custom-made hip joint; Releasing of pain causing thigh tendon; Removal of extensive scar tissue; Scar revision; Mobilizing and lengthening of right lower extremity; Complex closure. Before meeting the beautiful (inside and out) Dr. Burr, I was miserable, wearing expensive orthopedically altered shoes and only functioning with pain and activity limits. The responsible 1st revision surgeon, Dr. Jaime Hernandez of SCOI, said that was the best that could be done and a second revision was impossible because of my MRSA history coupled with bone loss. Thank God I didn’t give up and met with Dr. Burr who graciously took the necessary time, thought and energy to give me even hips, an even pelvis and leg length with NO discrepancy. I am thrilled to be moving and wearing normal shoes again. My husband is so happy, he will paint Dr. Burr’s house for free:)
