Do not go to Dr. Hurlbert unless you want him to lie on your medical records. I saw him to fix another bank surgery that left me in pain for 2 years after the first surgeon gaslit me saying nothing was wrong with me. I couldn't take the pain anymore so I reached out to Dr. Hurlbert for a second opinion. He immediately ordered a new MRI and then told me I had a bone spur that was stabbing my sciatic nerve that was left by my first surgeon where he cut my spine to perform the surgery. After he told me this, he asked who my first surgeon was. After I told him, he continued to rant and rave about this surgeon telling me he was a great guy and they were friends. After Dr. Hurlbert did my surgery to fix the bone spur, I requested my medical records to hire an attorney to sue the first doctor who left me in debilitating pain for 2 years. Upon receiving my medical records I noticed that Dr. Hurlbert put that my bone spur grew over time and I was only complaining of pain for 4 months. THIS IS NOT TRUE! I told him several times I've been in horrible pain since my first surgery and he told me several times it was the bone spur left from my first surgeon. This doctor covered for his friend and committed a crime to do it! I suggest finding an honorable surgeon if I were you!

He destroyed my life
Between him and the anesthesiologist, my life is destroyed and no neurosurgeon will go in to fix their mistakes. My brain is slumping out of the massive hole in my skull because he removed too much bone and I have adhesive arachnoiditis in my lumbar spine because he ordered the anesthesiologist to flush a lumbar drain (and got it stuck in my spine and nerves after shoving it further in) that should have never been placed in a Chiari patient to begin with. Then when I went to him for help post-op, he said everything was normal in my MRI (a huge lie!) and dismissed me as a patient. I will only continue to get worse and lose the function of my legs, bladder, and bowels as well as cognitive function due to recurrent CSF leaks, the brain herniation, and the brain stem compression while he goes on to destroy more patients. I would never recommend him or this hospital to anyone ever.

Yes I would recommend Dr. Hurlbert and his staff. Extremely sensitive and understanding. Any kind of spinal surgery is life changing. It seems easy peasy but it’s not! I think Dr. Hurlbert is about as calm as you can get while undergoing a major operation.
