Excellent spine surgeon
I had a lumbar stenosis with pain shooting down my left leg. Cortisone injections didn't help nor did physical therapy. So when I finally had the time to have surgery (after I retired) I was referred to Dr. Sauber. He ordered another scan of the spine, agreed with the previous physician's diagnosis, and recommended surgery (laminectomy of the affected area). The surgery revealed a cyst at the affected location. It was removed and the pain has disappeared. The pain from the incision lasted only a few days. After than I was as good as new.

100% recommend
Dr. Sauber and his staff are wonderful! I would 100% recommend Dr. Sauber. He listens, understands, and comes up with a plan. He performed a spinal fusion and laminectomy on me after years of pain, and I can walk again, pain and cane free. He has truly changed my life. A million thank you's to Dr. Sauber !

I went to see him because he was listed as a “spine specialist” because I had an X-ray showing adult scoliosis changes and experiencing thigh pain. He treated me for thigh pain only and never did a comprehensive physical or symptom exam to determine the cause of my thigh symptoms which turned out to be herniated discs in my lumbar spine. All he did was collect my copay and bill my insurance. I would recommend seeing an rehab physician for a thorough evaluation.

Horrible visit - waited 45 minutes to be seen - forced bedside manner. He is a specialist but offered nothing to help my son. Don’t waste your time or money.

Dr. Sauber was excellent. He explained everything to not only me, but my 11 year old. He made sure everyone was comfortable with the treatment plan. There was no rushing and the exam was thorough as well as his explanation of the x-rays. He even offered for us to come back in a few weeks if we needed to process the information discussed at the appointment if we were more comfortable that way.

Dr. Sauber came highly recommended to my PCP in Erie as someone who could perform a four level cervical laminoplasty on my neck. At my first appt he reviewed my MRIs and got a clear understanding of the balance issues and medical treatment I had sought the past yr. He concurred with my PCP that a cervical laminoplasty could benefit me yet encouraged me to get a second opinion which I did. That neurosurgeon agreed with Dr. Sauber and I had the procedure 1/30/19 and am doing great! I was on pain meds for probably 5 days then switched to Aleve and muscle relaxer only at night. I've had a follow up appt and Dr. Sauber said I'm ahead of schedule & I am planning to return to work 2/17/20. I've been told by nurse friends who saw my incision that it is very smooth and neat. Because I am doing so well (at 59) I can only attribute that to a very competent doctor who chose the right procedure for my circumstance. I found Dr. Sauber to be very thorough & compassionate and I highly recommend him.

I came in to get a second opinion about a neck sprain, was given an ex ray without any skirt to protect me from radiation. And was charged over $700 for a 2 dimensional (cheap) ex ray. Was told that I had a neck sprain... I already knew I had, and that the other 2 back Xmas were inconclusive. When I called into his office, I was told that "medical insurance in America is expensive". Maybe my name led them to believe I am a foreigner, but even so, it's unfortunate the service is very poor.

He is truly a wonderful doctor and one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. He is thorough, compassionate, professional, extremely knowledgeable and takes time to ensure his patients truly understand what needs to be done. The surgery was a 100% success and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I can honestly say I am so thankful and grateful to Dr. Sauber.

Dr. Sauber is one of the best surgeons we have encountered. My husband had back surgery from an auto accident which was performed by Dr. Sauber. He and his staff were professional and courteous. The time was taken to make sure we knew everything that was going on and answered all of our questions. I would recommend him to anyone!
