Dr. Scott Simpson has been my retina specialist for about 5 years. He is an amazing, brilliant MD. He cares about his patients and is willing and able to educate us as much as we are willing to learn. He speaks to me as an equal, and shows me every scan he's ever done, explaining concerns as well as what is going well in plain English (thank you, Dr. Simpson!) and what to do if certain situations arise that may be emergencies. When I had excruciating pain during a procedure with a DIFFERENT ophthalmologist, Dr. Simpson told me he didn't understand why but to bring it up with the other MD. I finally did, and was referred to the anesthesiologist. I learned that pain control failure is very common in individuals with my red-head genetics. No one knows why. I would never have figured out why local anesthesia (including dental) and conscious sedation have failed me for decades if Dr. Simpson hadn't encouraged me to get answers. I highly recommend Dr. Simpson. He is an excellent MD.

FIRST VISIY TO DR. SIMPSON
9/26/23 I just came home from my appointment with Dr. Simpson. I went there fearful after reading the horrible negative reviews I found. Really???I was so pleased to find all the people were fantastic, helpful and kind. Dr Simpson came introduced himself and shook our hands (my husband was with me). He explained what was going on with my eyes. I feel very comfortable with my visit and wish I hadn’t read the negative reviews. I sure would have slept better last night!! Be kind out there there, life is too short to be so negative.

Permanently blind in one eye
After many years with this doctor to monitor infrequent but acute optic nerve swelling and uveitis, I discovered when it was too late that this doctor should’ve sent my son to the emergency after an attack to get a steroid IV and plasma replacement ASAP. The doctor never mentioned this was something that could be used to spare his sight. The swelling killed his optic nerves and now he’s blind in one eye. We now travel to Moran Eye Center in Utah and have a standing order that we hope he won’t have to use to spare the other eye. Am I upset? Yes. This could’ve been controlled and his eyesight retained. Also, like others have mentioned, he gives monosyllabic answers and trying to get more is like mining for ore. Go somewhere else if you value your eyes and would like to be treated better in the process.

Office visit
My husband had his pre-op visit today. He waited in the waiting room full 2 hours! He doesn't get paid for sick time off. Time is money. Stop over booking! The doctor did not even apologize to him. And he saw him for 10 minutes. Hopefully the surgery will go better

I've been seeing Dr. Simpson for the pat year. After a stoke in my left eye, and having open angle glaucoma, I need ongoing monitoring and care to maintain eyesight in my remaining eye. I've always found Dr. Simpson to be professional and caring. More important is that I trust him to take care of my eyes. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is casually professional. I don't know what the negative reviews are about.

I called for an appointment. Today is December 16, 2020. As of today, their office's official policy is that masks are not required and the doctor refuses to wear a mask because "it fogs up his glasses." Covid is running rampant here in Idaho, this is appalling.

The staff was outstanding. The doctor was not interested in explaining my visual situation. Only asked for questions. When asked a series of questions, I received one word answers, then "any other questions", another one word answer "any other questions" . I was left with little confidence in him. Vision is critical to his patients; it doesn't seem like it to him. It seemed like they just herd cattle from one room to the next. $$$ The question I did not ask was "Should I seek another doctor?
