Great doc, office, experience
Everything was great. Very efficient, and greater convenience than my previous visit, now with the labs in-house. Dr. Alix was very attentive and responsive to my concerns and, particularly regarding my meds. He gave good advice on steps I can take to improve my health. All office staff were courteous, friendly. I rate only 9 of 10 because of the affiliation with a big, corporate, university hospital. That can tend to result in access to greater technological and informational resources, but providers must align with corporate bureaucracy, policies, and positions, which can get in the way of true science and medicine.

He was a little behind time, so I waited a bit, but he was his usual helpful, cooperative, looking carefully at the problem physician I have grown to trust.

My wife and I were CU Internal Medicine patients for 25 years. We recently had to pick a new primary care doctor; unfortunately we choose Dr Stephen Alix. A few months ago, 6 days before a scheduled 14 hour flight to Europe, I tired to see Alix for a server cough - I did not want to travel while sick. I could not see him but did see a PA instead. After 3 days, my cough worsened and developed into pleurisy. I called his office a number of times over the next three days trying to get medication for my cough. During this time, he twice sent me prescriptions for wrong medications. Once for meds that my records say "do not prescribe" and once for meds my pharmacist wife said would aggravate cough. Day before my flight I called office asking "what was gong on"? I needed to know if Alix would prescribe cough medication else I would go to an emergency room to get a prescription. Nurse said 'Dr Alix says he does not prescribe codeine medications'. I was abandoned! We changed doc

I have been going to Dr. Alix and his practice for 5 years. Their phone system is much improved over the past year. They are always good about getting back to me. I have 5 doctors in my own family and work in healthcare, so I am very familiar with how medicine works. These people provide exceptional care.

My review is more about the physician group than Dr. Alix himself. This had been my doctor and physicians group for several years. They joined CU Health a couple years ago and since then the service provided is extremely poor. I have called the clinic on several occasions to make a routine appointment in the past two years. I have never had someone answer the phone when I have called and only twice have I received a return call when leaving a message.

Impossible to talk to dr alix or his nurse without a scheduled appointment. Was his patient for almost two years and he could not spare 2 minutes time to discuss an error on a prescription he wrote.
