Biography: I grew up in Seattle, went to college in Boston, and have studied medicine and surgery in New York City. I have had the privilege to work with and learn from many excellent surgeons, doctors, and researchers, and I am proud to bring that experience and expertise to the community of patients throughout the Mount Sinai network. Through a range of approaches -- both surgical and non-surgical -- that we tailor to each person's needs, our team's goal is to help you restore, maintain, or improve your function and appearance. It is important to me that care of my patients is aligned with research and academic pursuits. My team and I are working to develop new approaches to enhance recovery after nerve injury, studying ways to improve outcomes in reconstruction of the breast (particularly after partial mastectomy), and developing new technology to improve surgical training and education. Biography: Dr. Chelnis is recognized as a 2020 Top Doctor, Best Plastic Surgeon, and Super Doctors Rising Star with a special focus around your most prominent facial feature- your eyes! Dr. Chelnis serves as a cosmetic and functional surgeon and treats patients of all ages, from birth onward. He is trained in oculoplastics and ophthalmology. He completed his fellowship subspecialty training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and University of Tennessee. He returned to New York and is now the only oculoplastics provider at Mount Sinai Hospital in the upper east side of Manhattan. He has published and presented dozens of times within his field, both national and internationally, including the Sydney Eye Hospital in Australia, and Osaka, Japan.
