Recent care at Mass Eye and Ear
Several appointments in past year. The concern & comfort from Dr Eliott and his staff was just great and consistent thru out. They are just a great crew of people and all the patients were put at ease.

Superb retina care
It is hard to imagine better retina care than that provided by Dr. Eliott and his entire team. Their superb abilities are complemented by their obvious concern for their patients in more ways than can be described here. Dr. Eliott's surgical skills are awe inspiring in every possible way. Dr. Hu provided me with wonderful preliminary information and advice, and then also assisted in my retinal detachment repair. Dr. Martinez not only assisted in my emergency surgery, which took place in the evening, but also came in early the next morning for my day after visit because it was the only time when I could get transportation to Mass Eye and Ear. Other doctors, whose names I do not recall, were as a group unfailingly responsive to my needs as a patient and as a person. Without this superb team, I do not want to think of what my vision would be today.

The best-run medical practice I've ever been to!
Dr. Dean Eliott saved my life a few years ago. He is extremely knowledgable. His office is the best-run medical office I've ever been to. The entire team is professional and caring. My case was quite complicated because it involved liaising with other practices at MGH. Dr. Eliott and his team advocated for me and my health every step of the way. From the admin team who have a very efficient check-in process, to the nurses that do the labs, to the imaging professionals, and residents that work at his office, every single person I've interacted with in Dr. Eliott's office is amazing. I am so impressed by him and his department. I owe my life to them.

He is a phenomenal Doctor.
Dr. Eliott is a compassionate, talented surgeon who I believe, along with his team including Dr. Martinez, saved my husband's eye and helped restore his vision following a devastating injury. He is extremely knowledgeable and gives each patient the information and time to produce the best possible result.

Success in a dangerous procedure
Dr. Dean Eliott, Director, Emeritus, Retina Service, MEEI, on February 23, 2024, performed extremely delicate and dangerous surgery on my husband to remove a previously implanted lens which had moved out of place, obscuring his vision. The procedure was risky due to Bob’s low platelet level associated with his leukemia, which could cause excessive bleeding. The procedure was successful.Just this week, June 12, Bob has been released from Dr. Eliott’s care. We have the utmost respect and appreciation for the talent, dexterity, and wonderful personal care which Dr. Eliott and his staff gave my husband. Truth to tell, it was one of the most amazing moments when we were able to congratulate Dr. Eliott for a job extremely well done.

Office staff doesn't work at all or doesn't exist.
My father is a 97 year old patient of Dr. Dean Elliott. I live in another state and I tried to do everything I could to make sure that my father would continue to see the very good and highly professional doctor that Dr. Elliott is. But unfortunately, this time I gave up. The doctor's office either doesn't work at all or simply doesn't exist. This spring it took me over 1 month, 4 phone calls and a letter of complaint to the hospital administration to get a simple standard form for a patient transportation organization. I didn't want to post a negative review of a good doctor and ask the hospital to handle the situation, but this time I have no choice. My father's vision had deteriorated. Following Dr. Elliott's instructions, I contacted Mass Eye and Ear Call Center twice and they, following their protocol, emailed the doctor's office twice (mentioning that it was an urgent matter). I expected to hear back from the doctor in 24-48 hours, but it has been 10 days and no one has called me

Retinal hemorrhages in both eyes
I was Dr Elliott's patient for 3.5 years back in the early 2000s. I was truly blessed to literally stumble into his care at the time. He was very compassionate, caring and took a great deal of interest and research into my difficult and complicated injury to both eyes. I have followed his career path for 20 years and am so happy to hear he continues to be a helpful blessing to many lives. I live in another state and am interested to know if at all possible , I might be able to have a virtual appointment with him or if he would be willing to consult with my new retinal specialist in my current state? As I stated, I'm so grateful to Dr Eliott for the years of care he had given me. I trust him like no doctor I have ever had!

Dr Eliott is Outstanding
I have been a patient of Dr Eliott for 11 years. Over that time he has surgically repaired a severely detached retina and closed 2 macular holes with eye drop treatment, avoiding the need for additional surgery. My vision in the affected eye has recovered to 20/20 and the result is due to Dr Eliott’s expertise. He is the best and I feel extremely fortunate. He is thorough, professional and thoughtful, taking the time to clearly explain my condition and treatment options. Dr Eliott’s entire team is professional, responsive and easy to deal with. I have the utmost confidence in them. If you have retinal issues Dr Eliott is the doctor to see.

Great Team
We saw Dr. Eliott for a consult after my 94 year old uncle had complications following retina attachment surgery. I received a call at 6pm on a Friday to schedule an appointment for the following Tuesday. Dr. Eliott and his team were very friendly and efficient. We had to visit the office once a week for about 6 weeks. We were very pleased with the care we received from Dr. Eliott and his team. Dr. Eliott suggested we take a wait and see approach and let the retina heal itself. His retina has healed and he did not need any additional surgery. We were very confident that we were getting the best care possible. My uncle was very impressed with the care he received. He was shown the scans of his eye each week so he could see the improvement. Everything was explained to us in clear terms so we understood the process. We would recommend Dr. Eliott if anyone needed his expertise.

Best! Personable! Informative! Professional!
1st greeted by conney hunt-medical assistant. I was their from 730am to 4pm. Several times she went above and beyond my desired expectations as a patient. On 1 to 10 scale, 10 being best possible overall total satisfaction she gets 10. Continue with this same scale rating for others below. Doctors- Jose Davila and Dean Eliot. Left me feeling really like I just received best of best possible eye care I could of gotten anywhere in the world. Both doctor's get score of 10. Specifically; both informative, create positive sense of confidence in knowing their professional skill. Both personable, and highly focused. They informed me clearly before laser procedures my eye exam diagnoses, and asked me questions and politely answered any and all of my questions. I was left humbled as these doctor's I got to witness, move like fast paced machines from one patient to very next waiting for eye care yet when dealing with my eyes as I was their patient twice in same day. I felt most important! 10!

I have no issues with Mr Elliot. Being seen at MEE on the other hand isn't really worth it for any service you can find in a private practice setting. ALL my appointments are always 5-6 hours.
