Biography: I grew up in Seattle, went to college in Boston, and have studied medicine and surgery in New York City. I have had the privilege to work with and learn from many excellent surgeons, doctors, and researchers, and I am proud to bring that experience and expertise to the community of patients throughout the Mount Sinai network. Biography: Dr. Chelnis is recognized as a 2020 Top Doctor, Best Plastic Surgeon, and Super Doctors Rising Star with a special focus around your most prominent facial feature- your eyes! Dr. Chelnis serves as a cosmetic and functional surgeon and treats patients of all ages, from birth onward. He is trained in oculoplastics and ophthalmology. He completed his fellowship subspecialty training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and University of Tennessee. He returned to New York and is now the only oculoplastics provider at Mount Sinai Hospital in the upper east side of Manhattan. He has published and presented dozens of times within his field, both national and internationally, including the Sydney Eye Hospital in Australia, and Osaka, Japan. He has won awards for his research and funding from sources such as the Manhattan Eye Foundation. He is the Chief of the Young Ophthalmologists Info Editorial Board. He received his B.A. in political science with honors from Rutgers University while entering into the BA/MD program at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. After completing his general surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, plastic surgery residency at Emory University and microsurgery fellowship at New York University Medical Center, he joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in 2011. He served as Associate Program Director for 8 years before assuming the Directorship in 2019.
